Hi,
My husband and I just got two puppies about 7 weeks ago. One is a full Golden Retriever (Hailey, who is 17 weeks old) and the other is a lab mix (Mocha who is now 14 weeks old). Mocha's mother was a full chocolate lab who had gotten out and came back pregnant. When we have taken Mocha and Hailey on walks everyone knows what Hailey is right away but they always ask what Mocha is. We tell them that her mother was a chocolate lab and her father was a mystery. So many people replied that she looked like she was mixed with a pit bull.
My uncle is our Vet and yesterday Hailey and Mocha went to get their shots. I asked him and the technician what they thought and my uncle thought more of a boxer and the tech first thought great dane but then also boxer. My uncle said pit bulls have really wide jaws, which Mocha's did not seem to be that wide. Also, boxer's have an underbite which Mocha has.
They brought in another tech who has three boxers and asked without saying anything what she thought Mocha was mixed with. The tech said a boxer. She was describing how when boxers play they use their paws and they use their paws for everything. Well that is EXACTLY what Mocha does! Before I even thought of her being mixed with a boxer I would tell people "It looks like she is boxing, with the white tips on her paws and she uses her paws for everything." Then last night we took them on a trail and met a lady walking a boxer and a beagle. She thought Mocha looked like a boxer mix and right as she said that Mocha started playing with the boxer and used her paws. The lady said, wow, that has to be the boxer in her! Also, I was reading a website on boxers and it listed somethings boxers do that many other dogs don't do. One was chasing bugs with their paws. The other night a bug got in the house and Mocha was chasing it up and down the wall. It was very cute!
Anyways, I would like to know what other people think. I am new at this so hopefully I can find a way to upload some pictures. Tell me what you think! Thanks!
