    Hunting Basenjis

I read a column in Dogs in Canada this month about a fellow who hunted with his basenji. I loved it! He said that while basenjis don't fall into typical western hunting techniques, that they were master hunters what used a combination of scent and sight. It was really interesting to read about. I wish there were more opportunity for non-western breeds to be used for their original purpose.

Well, basenjis do fall in the hound grouping and all hounds are hunters either by scent or sight or both.

Was that Jeff Schettler?  He started a basenji native hunting list and while it is usually low volume, there are some fascinating things said there.  He has also written a few articles for different basenji mags.  With that and the African stock project, it's an exciting time to be in basenjis.  If I could only keep up with 1/2 of it . . .

Yep, that's the guy. I'd like to read more about his techniques and such, but I can't seem to find anything on the internet.
