Basenji or Cattle Dogs?

    Basenji or Cattle Dogs?

Just wondering if it's a trait of either of these breeds that they are talkers or if I just have a talkative little personality here in my Sydney.  We are pretty sure these are her mixes but since she was found on the highway when she was 6 wks old we can't be sure.  I'll send more pics of her, everyone comes up with the same question assessment of her background.

Maybe this should be in Mixed breeds?  Sorry if it's posted in the wrong place.

Basenji's can't bark but I have heard that they are nonetheless quite vocal and make sounds that owner's call "yodeling"!

In my limited experience, I wouldn't classify a cattle dog as a barker - unless over-stimulated (excited) or bored.

The foster cattle dog living with me is a definite barker!  If I could just get her high pitched (can shatter glass) bark on cue with the basset's bass and my aussie mix's tenor I would have an awesome chorus!  [;)]

I know several Brittney Spaniels as well as Aussie's that are talkers - they have this RRAre, RRAre, Arewoo type thing going one.

Ash is a cattle dog and she never barks unless she's excited. That could be anything from soemone at the door to seeing a cat as we drive by in the car. She really doesn't bark though and in a book I have on cattle dogs, it says that they were bred to be silent heelers. I'm not saying that's true, just what the book said.
