    Jack Russel Terriers!

I have a Jack Russel Terrier named Frazer. He is related to the TV star Wishbone. There is another Jack Russel Terrier named Moose who plays Eddie on the TV show Fraiser. That's how he got his name. I'm sorry if I'm boring you.

Those are cute dogs!!  Have a question that maybe you JRT people can answer.  Why did the rename the breed from Jack Russell Terrier to Parson Russell Terrier?

oh he has many personalities but none the less those pictures are all the same dog... my lil buddy buff!
I got confused trying to look up JRT's and finding all these parson russell terrier listings.. very confusing! if you find out why they changed it please let me know.. lol

I know, I know! JRT did not change their name. ;Parson russell terrier refers to the Jacks with the shorter legs. Most JRTs have legs that are about the same length as their torsos are long. My dog Odie (one on the left below) is a parson russell terrier (mixed with fox terrier) cause his legs are shorter than his torso is wide. (These types of JRT are also known as having "type B" bodies.)

Actually, the Parson Russell's the one with the longer legs, the Jack Russell is the "English" type with the short legs :)  It's pretty confusing, to be perfectly honest I only just recently got it straight [&:]

LOL that part confuses a lot of people what with the Aussy JRT's parsons, Jack russells. LOL

OK A JRT and a ParsonRT are the same basically, just depends on the registry, JRTCA calls theirs JRT's and truly was the first JRT reg in the US.  The AKC came along later and wanted to acknowledge the breed but the JRTCA had a big to do about it and the only way the AKC could do it was call them parson Russell Terriers. Many of hte PRT dogs come from JRTCA stock, and the build is about the same, you want a square boxy type dog.  Now you get into the shorties or the ones that are longer then they are tall and you'll find them called everythign from Puddin's to english JRT's, to now Aussie JRT's. Depends on who you talk to and what reg they are in, everyone has to have their own little group with their 'own' type of jacks. LOL I hate to say that but in the JRT world it is so.

A jack is a jack is a jack trutfully, the different types are little more than differnt body types just as there are different coat types and it's been proven that one body type can sire another body type.

Do you think Buddy is a Jack Russell?  He's the Black and white one on the left in my icon.  He has white feet, a white tip to his tail, a white star on his forhead, and his belly and chest is nice and white.  Let me know what you think.  Thanks!

That makes no sense what-so-ever....are they trying to create a new breed with new breed standards?
