    Welcome back Corvus,

My only exposure to this dog is from a lady who has a couple and then takes in one to foster.  From her description they are high energy but listen so well.  I look forward to fostering one of these guys one day.  I love the colorization.

I've got what we think is a mini-Aussie (the shelter called her an "Aussie mix" but they didn't know for sure).

Here's some additional pictures plus she's the one on the left in my signature:

Then the one on the right in my signature is an Aussie/Border Collie/? mix.  Here's some more pics, he's just not the most photogenic dog.  He's much more handsome in person!!

I'm no expert, but I wouldn't guess mini-Aussie. Minis tend to have pointier features. Yours has the nice round snout of an Aussie. They can really vary in size and a mini-auassie can actually be bigger than a small Aussie. My friend has a little girl who is about 32 lbs, while my boy tops he scale at 85. People can't believe they are the same breed.

She could be Aussie, I only guessed mini-Aussie because of her size.  She's only 32lbs at 7 months old right now, but she's probably got some growing to do.  We love her in any case.

Aussies are SUPER smart, both my dogs can learn a new trick in a few minutes.

The Aussie/BC boy loves EVERYBODY, especially if they play fetch with him.  The little girl I'm concerned about, she's REALLY afraid of strangers.  She barks and growls a them and runs hiding and shaking.  I literally had to drag her into her crate that she normally jumps right into because the Maytag guy was standing there and she was terrified of him.  And that's only when they come to our house.  I can take her out in public and she loves everybody, goes right up to them for a pat.  Unfortunately, I haven't been able to use anybody to work with her on that, I can't ask the Maytag repair guy or the Propane Gas filler guy to give my puppy a treat and try to get her to approach them!  I've got to work on it somehow....

Why can't you ask them? Unless they really don't like dogs they'd probably be happy to help considering they probably run into dogs all the time.

I probably should have, but neither one seemed particularly interested in dogs at all.  My son brings home friends with him from college for the weekend once in a while, I'm going to try it out with one of them next time.  And whomever else may come along!

    all very good looking dogs.

FYI, you either have an Aussie or you don't.  The Aussie standard does not have a size requirement.  But, IMO, shrink the dog too much and you shrink the brain, too, LOL.
32 pounds is fine for an Aussie.  Mine is full grown at 28.3 pounds - ASCA registered.
The working dogs tend to be smaller than the show dogs.  My dog's dam weighed 32, and her sire weighed 40.

I do understand that "mini-Aussies" aren't really a true breed.  But isn't there a minimum height that Aussies must meet to be AKC registered?  Supposedly the mini-Aussie "breeders" say that their dogs are Aussies that don't meet that minimum size.  That's at least what  I read about on the internet, but I take all that for what it's worth.  And to me they are just another "backyard" bred dog anyways, ie: labradoodles, etc.

Anyways, whatever she is, we love her!  And her brain certainly is not "shrunk", she's smart as a whip!!!

This is my 9.5 yr old Aussie Shepherd/Lab mix Tango. He'll be 10 on May 27th. First pic was taken back in his younger days, the second pic was taken two days ago. Tango is the sweetest and one of the smartest dogs i've ever had, he loves all people especially kids.

My dog, the big one in the pic under my name (avatar?) is a rott/ACD mix. She came from a family who owned both parents, so we're pretty sure it's accurate. She doesn't look very ACD, but she loves to bite/chase feet, and horses are her favortie- she'll bark in their face to make them get moving, then just trot along behind happily- until they stop, at which point she has to bark again.

No.  All that is needed to be AKC  registered is to have AKC registered parents.  There is a breed standard height range but that is not a requirement for registration.

But, we don't get into the great Aussie size debate.  It isn't pretty.

This is my smarty pants aussie shepherd, Dash.  He is highly intelligent and quite obedient.  They're a great pet for any family as they are so easily trainable.  Gosh, sounds as though I am advertising him but he is very much taken, lol.
