Baby Chi or Not?

• Baby Chi or Not? redlegos Posted : 4/15/2007 10:01:50 PM Yesterday in the paper there was a Chi for sale for $175 ..I thought it was really strange since they are usually around $450 so I called and was asking the lady about him. He was a short haired Chocolate. So since I'd been wanting another Chihuahua for the longest time I decided to go look at him. He was adorable and I feel in love. She didn't want him anymore because her other Chihuahua was around 12 years old and her companion dog had died and she was going through depression - she wouldn't eat or sleep or play. The lady's vet tried medicine which didn't work then suggested she buy the dog a "friend" which is how she ended up with the pup. She said the baby was simply too wild for the older dog and it drove her nuts so she had to get rid of him. Well, that was fine by me! My dogs love him already and he already loves his new home and new brothers. Pedro's a little intimidated by him a think but I honestly just wanted to buy him so Pedro could have a dog to play with seeing as Tj is getting older. There is only one thing though -- His face looks sort of big to me, but I've never seeing a Chi baby. Did I just get an extremely good deal or did I get played for a fool? • Katy Harvey Posted : 4/16/2007 10:30:37 AM I'm not an expert on Chi's but he looks like a nice example of the breed to me!  A good thing to do is google some Chi breeders and look at pics of their puppies for comparisons.   I would be concerned however that if this lady didn't officially own the dog before she sold it to you, do you have legal ownership of this dog?  Technically, she didn't own the dog to have rights to sell it to you if she still owed money to the breeder.  Did she give you some kind of bill of sale?  I'd also follow up with the breeder in a week or so and make sure they got the rest of the money for the dog so the chain of ownership is in place, and you in essence don't have a "stolen" dog on your hands. 0 LIKE Like Share You have posted to a forum that requires a moderator to approve posts before they are publicly available. • Grace Stover Posted : 4/19/2007 9:47:02 AM she sounds shady. i think the dog doesn't have papers, they should have been provided when you brought him home. definitely get a bill of sale or transferral of ownership (even a license should cover it 'license of ownership for dog'). • redlegos Posted : 4/19/2007 12:41:33 PM I did talk to the breeder myself and she said once the money went through to her bank from the lady who I got the pup from, she'd send me the paperwork. She told me so much about the mom and his sisters and brothers..
