    suggestions on what she maybe?

I recently adopted Sadie.  She is said to be a four year old Australian Shepard mix.  Vet suggested some Corgi.  I see GSD in the coloring, but am drawing a blank on the rest, she does have very thick feathering (?) on her back legs.  Any suggestions on what the mix maybe?  Thanks

I agree, I think she has GSD in her.

I have heard so many different theories on what the mix, other than gsd, may be!  Hubby thinks golden too.  She is very calm, active but not overly so, quiet and well behaved in the house, loves the kids, but I am her person.  She follow me everywhere, much like our lab does with my husband.  Does a purple spot or so on her tongue indicate part chow?  Her undercoat is really thick, but the outside hairs are thinner, sparser and very long.

Actually I'd pick...Chow, GSD, and Golden. the lighter markings over the eyes etc are called 'urajiro' in the Japanese breeds like Shiba and Akita when they come up..'white masks' in other breeds, like the Chow. It's a 'primative' marking pattern seen in many oriental breeds (and other non primative like the Corgi) that haven't had  alot of fussing done...erect ears, curled tails, double coats, independant temperaments lol! Chows also tend to bond with one person within a family and be a bit quiet and aloof.

the white masking makes me think Chow...and Chow Golden mixes often look like your dog...LOTS of coat...lol!

yup she defintily has lots and lots of coat.  She is actually rather skinny, we are working on that, she could easily stand to gain 15+lbs.  You can easily feel every bump on her backbone, ribs etc.  All that hair hides it.  It amazes me looking down at ther back how wide it appears to be, most of it is actually just hair.  LOL!

Not necessarily.  I've seen purebred Labs, Goldens, GSD and Newfs with purple spots on their tongues.  I think Gina is on the mark with her suggestion of GSD/Chow/Golden mix.  I can see some of each breed in her.

Magneto -- I see GSD too. My first thought was maybe some English Shepherd, but I don't know much about the breed and may be way off.

I can see Corgi maybe, and I can see hound, and maybe some Sheltie or Aussie.  Anything's possible, because I think she is not just two breeds, but a real mix of more.  But, what I do not see is any Chow.
Black spots on tongues do not mean that she has Chow - there are a lot of breeds that have spots.  And, the fact that she tends to follow you around a lot suggests herding breed.  They want to be able to see the fave person all the time, and will often get up to follow you from room to room, and even place themselves strategically in a doorway or other place where they can watch the entrances and exits at the same time.

thanks for everyones guesses.  She seems to be a true Heinz 57.  I see the GSD, I see herding dog of some breed in her personality, The shape of her ears and the feathering on her rear reminds me of Corgi.  She has the whole double coat thing going.  However, it doesn't really matter what she is though, we just find her to be a rather awesome dog.  I have another dog that we were told is a Basenji mix, not too sure about that, but again it doesn't matter, she is still Stella no matter the breed.
