Any Yorkie fans out there??!!

I'm very much a yorkie fan!!! I have always been a dog lover and have had many different breeds over the years (GSD, Goldens, Cockers, Sheltie, and a few mixed breeds). As I have gotten older I needed to down size and get a smaller breed, something easier for me to handle. I bought a maltese 5 years ago, He was my first toy breed . I decided he needed a friend and did my research on yorkies. Found myself a couple of reputable breeders that were near me and had to wait an entire year before one of them had a puppy that would be sold as a pet. I have to tell you that my yorkie has the best temperament. She's gentle, sweet natured, very beautiful  and very entertaining . I don't think I've ever had such a sweet dog and I've been a dog owner for over 40 years. As with all toys, they are a delicate & are not really suited for families with small children as the dogs can be stepped on, dropped, etc. They also need someone whom is ready to devote the time and attention that they need. It's pretty much like having a baby, they may require medical attention for some ailment quicker than the larger breeds whom may be able to get over that tummy bug on their own.  Grooming requirements are not that difficult if you are interested in that sort of thing. If they have a good silky coat, tangles and knots may be minimal if you take reasonable care in brushing them. Soft coated yorkies are a little more difficult in the grooming and require more brushing to keep the hair in good condition. Super tinys may be prone to more health problems. If you decide to buy one be leery of breeders whom sell so called "teacups". There is no such thing according to breed standard.

We have a 7 year old, she weighs a whopping 2 lbs. She was the runt of her litter, which is why she is so little. Use to be diabetic when she was younger, we had to give her syrup to regulate her suger, but she's grown out of that.

My favorite thing about her, is that she isn't hyper little pooch. Most tiny dogs i see are yip yappy  and just too energetic. But she sleeps about 16 hours a day, lol. My kinda dog! Also she lives with two saint bernards, but she keeps them in check, lol

Yes, many breeders will refer to the smaller pups as "teacups" or "miniatures". But an honest breeder will tell you that they are only refering to the small stature, and that it's not a breed standard. You CAN breed them to be 3 pounds and less, but like you said, many more health issues come up, so be prepared.
