German Shepherd pound puppies...possibly purebred?

I think that they are purebred. And they are VERY cute! Why are you taping their ears? If they fall, whats the big deal?

Thank you! They were adorable little puppies. I can't believe they're over a year old now!

Because their ears didn't stand by 6 months, it was suggested that we try taping to see if it would help. Neither puppy minded, and it didn't hurt them, so we figured we might as well give them a chance at having perky ears. It didn't end up helping, so we have cute, floppy-eared puppies instead. Which is fine by me. But since there's really only one window of opportunity for the ears to stand before they're floppy for life, we decided to see if it would make a difference. I am 100% convinced they are purebred when I see the puppy pictures, and the pictures with their ears erect (even if it was just due to the taping), but they look substantially less German Shepherd with floppy ears. Since having erect ears is part of the German Shepherd "look", we did want to try. But since it didn't work, we're just going on and loving our adorable little floppy pups.

]. I used to volunteer at a German Shepherd Rescue and a few of the dogs had one ear that stood up and one that was floppy, I used to think it was cute! I think they definetly look purebred, especially when I looked at the pictures of when they are full grown.

Also does one have longer hair? They do have Long Haired German Shepherds.

To me, they look like they might have a bit of 'something else' in there, but I'd say they're definitely mostly German Shepherd.

They look purebred to me, just poorly bred. I mean poorly by standard, not by any means of them being bad looking! Please don't take it that way! They seem pure to me though, very gourgeous! They look so sweet. Did you try calcium supplements for their ears?

There's a little something about the nose that keeps me from agreeing that they are purebred. Seems to be a tiny bit short of a shepherd nose, but one of my boys, Theo, has a shorter nose and I know that he is purebred and out of show parents. And he's the only one in the litter with slightly longer fur....not as long as your pups, but his coat is a bit longer.

The black in my shepherds is sleek and shiney, and Theo, again, is smallish...just barely 65 pounds. But he was also the runt of the litter, along with Mr. Ears (we had two runts). In the pictures, I'd not say that the head is anything other than gsd, except for the nose being a tad bit "off".

The ears, not so sure. I've never had a pup whose ears weren't erect fairly young, and I've had gsd pups from 3 different mommas through my doors. I do know that it happens now and then, but with both not standing, I'm going to guess that there IS a tiny bit of something else in these cuties.

Hello - I came across your post and I think I also have a German Shepher/Doberman mix. I think mine looks more like a Doberman. He was rescued from a storm drain last Easter Sunday. We named him Drano :-)

Here are a few pictures of him throughout the year. 6 weeks, couple months, 10 months and 11 months. Then my signiature is of him when he was about 9 months. He will be one year old March 1 and weighs about 65 pounds

My guess is that they are both GSDs. One long coat and the other smoother. I dont think they are mixed, alot of Shepherds ears dont stand. Being that they are already a year old, more than likely they never will, even with taping. They certainly are beautiful dogs though!
