Two New Puppies

    Two New Puppies

I'm unsure of the breed so I thought I'd see if you guys had some insight.  They're about three months old.  They're rescue dogs and sisters.

The dark one is Smokey and the tan one is Sadie.

They appear to have webbed feet much like the labs I grew up with but from what I've read this doesn't seem to eliminate much in way of possible breeds.

    One more of Sadie

They both look like ABPT crosses to me.  They are so cute as pups!

Sadie looks very much like a pit bull to me. Smokey I'm not sure on... definitely part pit bull but there looks to be another breed. She appears to be a sable color which I think is kind of rare for pits... anyway they are both very cute!

I believe he's actually a seal color, it's found in APBTs but not too often.  It's absolutely stunning once they're full grown.

no kidding!  I LOVE that color

I too think they are APBT mixes. However, they both could be mixed with labs as well.

They are cute, that is for sure :)

Well I'm in the military so them being pitbulls may mean I need to go get a new house since they're not very pit friendly on base.  We'll see how things go.  Definately a new house for use off base if they are pits and it's a problem.  Shouldn't be since they're sweet hearts now and we don't beat our dogs.

Ah, if you're in the military, then they're called Yankee Terriers.  If it is going to be a problem, it's good that you're committed enough to the dogs to even think of moving for them.  I don't see that often as I like to so it's always great to find someone who loves their dogs that much.  Good luck with the little ones!

Yeah we've only had them a week now but despite the trouble and cleaning they've caused we both love them dearly.  They have so much personality.  Sadie is a little trouble maker and the generally more bold dog.  Smokey is the shy one and more than a little bit of a scarey cat.  she takes a while to warm up to you and for the first time she gave the high wag when [;aying with anyone but her sister.

They're so mischevious too.  They've already learned not to pee inside when we're around so they go out of sight and do it.  It gets cool outside at night (40s or 50s) so they don't like going out.  During the day they go outside much more often and they get alot of praise when we catch them at it.  They have open access to the back yard (it's fenced) while we're home.  For those times they pee inside I've found the a wetjet to be priceless.  When we catch them (we've learned they're secret so they don't get out of sight much) we pick them up scold them and put them outside where we want them to pee.

    Very cute pups!

suggestion:   As you truly don't know the parentage of the dogs, then I wouldn't allow people to hang their negative notion of pitbulls on the pups who seem adorable.   Why not tell folks that you adopted a Curbstone Setter, a Heinz 57, or any one of a zillion cute names that they have for mixies and mutts.....Perhaps, you can get people to see the wonderful dog instead of making assumptions based upon what part of the dog's heritage might be.  Best of luck, and there are no papers to show them as pits, so I wouldn't allow anyone to hang the title on them either.

Your dogs are gorgeous!  I've always liked the Heinz 57 description and known many who have used it to curb assumptions about certain breed mixes (chow, pitt, etc)

Well we've since tracked down the mother and she's most definately a pit a nice conformation 30 pound beauty she got dumped at the rescue a week after they dumped these guys.

We're both the kind who would rather correct an ignorant moron than hde what our dogs are.  The only reason we would hide them is BSL of some variety.
