• dan Posted : 12/8/2006 6:08:06 PM There are cancer problems with the breed, and right now I believe 6 to 8 years is the average lifespan. But deep inside I really wanted to rescue a dog. • Mikaela Ritter Posted : 12/21/2006 5:05:21 PM My cousins were a Berner family for a while.  First they had Logan and then when he passed they got Handsome...both were absolutely wonderful dogs and excellent with the kids.  Logan used to pull us around in a red wagon when we were just toddlers...I think we have pictures of it somewhere.  I don't remember him too well, but I remember Handsome.  He was extremely friendly, never obnoxious or annoying in any way, and just a delight to be around.  Unfortunately he died fairly young (7 or 8 I think?), and they haven't gotten another one since.  But I know if they do get a dog, it will be another Berner. []  I've also seen quite a few of them around, especially when I worked at the vet office.  They're certainly not as popular as something like a Shepherd or a Lab, but I do know of a few local ones. 0 LIKE Like Share You have posted to a forum that requires a moderator to approve posts before they are publicly available.
