    Question about Manchester Terriers

Does anyone own Manchesters? What are they like to own? I might be getting one next year. [:D]

Hello.  I raised manchester terriers for 15 years.  I can speak from experience that while they are great by themselves, you do not want to mix them with other breeds.  After all, they have more of a terrier personality than a toy/standard personality.  Be careful where you get one from also as they do have a lot of genetic problems.

I had one as a child growing up.  She was wonderful except Crestedlover is right about them not getting along with other dogs.  Or at least mine did not care for other dogs.  She was great with children, smart, would kill a hamster in a heartbeat (after the second one we gave up on having hamsters with her around).  She got along well with the cats and neighborhood children.  She traveled well and never peed or pooped in the house.  The old man up the street developed a particular fondness for her and if we left to go somewhere and she could not go she trucked her little self right up there to his door and scratched on the door to be let in.  Quite funny.  Depends on what you are looking for but our girl lived a very long time and did not have any health problems that I remember.  She was easy to keep clean and never smelled bad.  Teeth stayed good.  Good luck with yours.
