Now at 8 months, any thoughts what she is?

I know she is not a pure dobe. I looked at a lot of pure dobes adn they have longer noses, are larger & heavier etc.
she acts and kinda looks like a terrier straight on the face, but from the side of hte face a little lab like.
From the back looking at her body, walking, etc she kinda reminds me a Shepard. her fur and body shape with the long body and the curve/hunch? of the back near the tail.
She also has some dew claws on her hind legs. someone said that is a Shepard attribute.
from above, she upper body looks muscular - coudl not get a good photo of that. and she has that big barrel? chest.
She looks like a Doberman here?:

more photos here, from when we got her till now - 8 months/48 lbs :

Dobe x GSD would be my guess. Her body is a rectangle like you picked up on...Dobies tend to be more square. The texture of the coat appears to tend more to GSD as Dobies are a single or at least very smooth coated breed. the gills behind her neck are caused by the double coat causing the undercolor of tan to "break" thru. Her head an muzzle favor the Dobie heavily tho. Lab or something like that would tend to make her muzzle and neck area heavier...so I'd not choose that for those reasons.

    Cute dog!

Sorry, my brain is blanking out - What is GSD?

You think she has a double coat? her fur is so short and does not feel like much, even on top.
We had a Lab before, and she had much longer hair and a very thick feeling coat compared to Henri's.

She does seem to have a terrier muzzle. Does she have a smooth coat, or is it harsh to the touch?

very smooth and soft, but the top rear before the tail there is an area about 3 square inches where it feals a little coarse, but the rest especially toward the front/head etc is very soft.

Sorry I'm not one for guessing, but she sure is beautiful!! And yes she has an undercoat. My rotti X has longer fur than her, but he has a tan undercoat which shows thru on his neck just like hers..

i agree with the people who are saying something x lab. the tail, neck and nose look lab-ish to me.

My BEAGLE's...have a double coat. Double coat does not mean the fur does not lie smoothly [;)] It only means there is an undercoat present, no matter how minimal. You can see in the pics with a collar...there is a small amount of extra fur around her neck and onto her shoulders.

The coat is not completely Dobe like, Dobes have a sleek tight fitting jacket that is like that of a horse in summer. RupsMom is correct in saying the Rottie carries a double coat..they do have a minor ruff and breeches at their thighs.

GSD is a German Shepherd Dog. [;)]

These dogs came up in image search under Dobie Shepherd Mix...pretty close! But..there's no way to tell for 100% sure.

Oh she looks like she's quite the character, elegant and silly I love the stretched out frog legs picture. [:D] Can't tell you what she's crossed with.

I think there are more than two breeds.  Dobe/Hound/Terrier perhaps.

I definitely see the Doberman in her. My guess would be Doberman/German Shepherd and possibly a smaller breed mixed with the GSD or the Dobe. Not sure what it would be though, but probably some sort of terrier would be my guess. She's a beautiful dog.

She's beautiful, and she looks like she's quite the sweetheart.

I'm wondering whether she has some manchester in there. Yes, I know, awfully big, but you can get the size from something else. It's the body shape. I know two different breeders of Manchesters - one breeder favors the slimmer type but the other has a very blocky strain.

Anyway, I have to say those are some of the most gorgeous and thorough "meet my dog" pictures I've seen in this section. Fabulous - she looks like a way cool dog. Love the shark gills. I had a dog with tri extended all through his coat like that - it was really neat.

You can kind of see it here if you look carefully - there's a place right where the harness is parting the hair that you can see it. There's some on his head, too, but it's hard to see in this picture (excuse the beaten dog look - we were showing someone this dandy flyball harness and he doesn't understand why he's not playing flyball [8|]).

    Gina H.,
those 1st to Dobe/Shep photos look real close.

I think (other than the coloring) her head from teh side looks lab like:

Here, when she tucks her ears back (which i love when she does that) she looks Doberman like, mostly the top of hte head. her nose looks more terrier like to me:

She does a lot of cute puppy ;paws play with her front legs like terriers

and I took this photo when she was younger - laying on the couch funny

then found this photo of a JRT on the internet.

Other than the coloring, I think the face - nose, eyes, etc looks a lot alike. even they way they are laying.

Her body was much shorter back then.
