Us hound people seem to be short in supply on this forum. I grew up with Beagles and admire that it is a huge dog in a small package-they are smart, fun loving, tough as nails, strong as oxes, and usually stubborn as mules. Since growing up and having my own home, I have moved up and enjoy the challenges of larger hounds. Currently have a treeing walker coonhound and and Irish wolfhound. I have also had a dobie, a couple of german shepherds now, great dogs, but somehow just not
like my hounds. I really love the social aspect of hounds-nobody can really call them aloof within their family pack. And they are certainly challenging in the obedience department. I respect them and enjoy reaching the point of cooperation, because I don't think anyone ever truly owns a hound-the other way around is probably more accurate
