amstaff or pit bull?

    amstaff or pit bull?

Ella is obviously a mix. She's part pit, but lately I've beeb thinking that she looks maybe more amstaff to me than APBT.
    What do you guys think?
And sorry in advance for posting the same pics.

When she looks face forward at me, that's when I REALLY see Amstaff

    Thanks for your opinions.

She looks more Pittie to me.  It doesn't matter though because she is gorgeeeeous no matter WHAT she is![:)]

    thank you!

And, I know it doesn't matter, but I am just curious.
In the first pic, she looks more APBT to me, but in the second pic, she looks more amstaff to me.
She has more (IMO) of a amstaff snout and eyes. Her eyes are closer together than a APBT's are, I think.
While she looks bully, her features are smaller than that of an APBT.
I know, that could just be because she's mixed.

I think you should ask Jaime - she's the AmStaff expert here~ [;)]

I think she is gorgeous either way, and Im guessing she is more than half "bully" breed because that first picture she looks purebred, except for the head which is a tad bit off for a pittie or amstaff. Kind of shaped differently

See, that's what I'm talking about! That's what I was thinking amstaff. For some reason, with the pics I've seen of amstaffs, their heads don't look as wide or something. It's like, Ella looks like an apbt or an amstaff, she's got the facial structure and the body stance of one of those, but it's like her head is smaller in size or something.

And thanks! To me, she's the most beautiful dog, especially the ears!

It's impossible to tell whether a dog is an APBT or an AmStaff without a pedigree.  This girl is called a pit bull:  [linkhttp://www.virtualarad.net/news/2002/cainii_din_rasa_pit_bull_sunt_considerati_periculosi.jpg]http://www.virtualarad.net/news/2002/cainii_din_rasa_pit_bull_sunt_considerati_periculosi.jpg[/link]

The difference between an APBT and an AmStaff will often vary depending on who you talk to.  Personally, I believe that an APBT is any dog that came from the original lines and is still used for some sort of work, and an AmStaff is a dog bred for conformation.  There are also people who believe they are the same breed, and that the AmStaffs in the show ring are the same dogs with a different name.  Don't worry about what lines she came from, just love her for what you do know about her, which is that she is a sweet dog and a loving companion.

    I was simply curious.
Whether I find out (which I never really would be for sure anyway) or not isn't going to change the fact that I love her regardless.

To me, at least nowadays, I see a difference in the dogs.
I can't pinpoint exactly what it is, but there is an appearance difference between an APBT and an amstaff.

I just wanted to say that Ella is such a cutie! I love that second picture.

From what I have been told, there is no difference between the two, just the organization you can register with (UKC or AKC). I am sure Jamie can come by & enlighten us all.

I always thought there was as well.

I always thought Am. Staffs were shorter than APBTs. Someone was telling me the APBT standard varied from something like 50 lbs to 100 lbs. Is that right? That is a huge difference.

Thank you very much for posting that. I did a google image search for amstaffs and pit bulls and brought up one of each where the dogs were both sitting, it was a close head shot, and both had their ears cropped.
The eyes look farther apart on an APBT, and I am correct in thinking that Ella looks more amstaff in that regard than APBT.

But thank you for posting that because that helps me understand a bit better.
