Can you tell my dogs mix?

We got our dog from the Chicago pound some time ago but never learned her mix.
She was listed only as a chihuahua mix.  But she is clearly something else as well.
She does not have the typical chihuahua face and looks more like a fox.
Thanks in advance for all of your help...

    Justin

Hi and welcome to the forum!

I don't know what breed she could be, but your pup sure is a cutie!
I would've guessed maybe Chi/Jack Russell? But it looks like she's got black fur round the bottom of her neck, which isn't really a JRT trait...is her coat kind of wiry? I suspect it's a terrier of some sort...

Vinia- Chihahuas come in sable, so the black isn't a total giveaway but...

Chih/pom, maybe? MOst of those seem to end up longhaired, but could be a 2nd or 3rd generation mix. Her face actually looks more lika a rat terrier, though.

Pwca- the thought crossed my mind, but I've never seen sable Chi's before! Thanks for putting me straight [:)]

She's very cute!! Maybe rat terrier or toy fox terrier.

Corgi mix!  The hair texture makes me think Corgi.  Mixed with who knows what - how about North American Brown Dog?

Actually I see quite a bit of Shiba....esp in the coloring and "urajiro" or whitish markings about the cheeks, and forward slant of her ears. Does her tail curl at all? Is she more about people she knows than strangers...independant and cat like in her ways?

There are many pet quality Shiba being bred these days that have LARGE unshibalike eyes...something about her profile says Shiba tho, love to see a side body pic!

You always beat me to it!  But, you know what they say...great minds think alike!  As soon as I saw the second pic, I thought Shiba!  They are one of my favorite dogs.  The ears are very similar and the coloring is almost dead on.

It looks like an itty-bitty Shiba!!!  I'm guessing she's crossed with a Chi, cause she's got a fairly small muzzle.  As far as little dogs go, she's precious.

That's for all of the great responses.
She's a very well-mannered dog, except around food!  She's a big-time lapdog that loves to lay down touching me.
Her hair is course and kind of wiry.  She loves most all people except my friend J. (I didn't tell him I got a dog and he managed to step on her the first time he walked in the door). She does have a fluffy tail that curls up over her back.
Here are a few more pics...

    Oh yes...mainly Shiba...
The black tipping on her tail is typical:

    "Color
Coat color is as specified herein, with the three allowed colors given equal consideration. All colors are clear and intense. The undercoat is cream, buff or gray.

Urajiro (cream to white ventral color) is required in the following areas on all coat colors: on the sides of the muzzle, on the cheeks, inside the ears, on the underjaw and upper throat inside of legs, on the abdomen, around the vent and the ventral side of the tail. On reds: commonly on the throat, forechest, and chest. On blacks and sesames: commonly as a triangular mark on both sides of the forechest. White spots above the eyes permitted on all colors but not required.

Bright orange-red with urajiro lending a foxlike appearance to dogs of this color. Clear red preferred but a very slight dash of black tipping is permitted on the back and tail.

Chis can come in every color!  I have a blue merle chihuahua, even.

I would guess that your dog is chihuahua/shiba.  She is adorable :D
