Mystery Breed(s)?!?!

    Mystery Breed(s)?!?!

Here's my pup, Rocky. He was picked up as a stray so his history is unknown. I'm very curious about his breed(s) background. He's about a year and a half. He's 12 inches at the shoulders and weighs about 18 lbs. He's very submissive, very smart, and very social. He loves to run! He can out run all of the little dogs and some of the big dogs at the dog park. At home, he wants nothing more than to snuggle up close on the couch or in bed. He's also eager to please. Many people have commented on how well he listens. My guess is that he's mostly Italian Greyhound and Jack Russell Terrier with maybe a dash of Beagle. (He will occassionally howl like a hound, holds his tale up when walking like a beagle, and often has his nose to the ground smelling everything.) He also points but I'm not sure where that fits in.  I'm new to the dog world and would love the opinions of some more experienced dog owners.

I wouldn't guess ANY IG- he's just not that fine boned.

Beagle x rat terrier (rats tend to be finer than JRTs) would be my guess- just a Good Ole Squirrel Dog. :P

If you are in the South anywhere could be fiest/Beagle.

Am Foxhounds are rare and quite big. I think fiest/beagle is a good guess for this little guy...

I'd say most definately some beagle in there, in my opinion. Are you from the south? My dad, good ol country boy that he is, thinks he's got some fiest in him. He says they probably breed a treeing fiest with a beagle to get a better hunting dog, that's more flexible... at least that's what him and his brother used to do. He says he looks just like a dog they had years ago who's mother was a 13" beagle and father a fiest. Only his dog was a darker red and had more white. He says his dog was the best squirrel dog he ever had (he asked that I throw that in, lol.)

    Thanks for your guesses!

We live in North Dakota and I'm not sure what a fiest is. A friend of mine said that she doubted he had beagle in him because he's not a "food hound". We keep his food dish full and he just picks at it when he's hungry. From what I've heard, a beagle will eat any and all food it can find. Another unusual characteristic of Rocky's is that he bounces when he's excited. Instead of running to you when he's excited to see you, he bounds. The kids in his foster home said that he runs like a deer. He's also got quite the vertical leap. He can easily jump 4ft or higher.

Sapphire sounds so much like your dog![:D] She is 1/2 rat terrier (sp), 1/4 blue tick coon hound and 1/4 beagle.

Here are a few pictures of her.

Her legs are just pure muscle I swear. She can jump pretty high also and is a runner. She weighs about 20 lbs. I'm not sure on her height but she's pretty small. When you look at her and you are told how much she weighs, you would think she weighs less. She does have tons of 'extra' skin...like she was super fat and lost a bunch of weight. Anyways, you have a very cute dog!

I don't see any IG or American Foxhound in your little cutie pie!

My guess is parson jack russel terrier and Harrier/Beagle.

My hound "points" when he's stalking too![:DMost hounds are food lovers but there are always exceptions!

He looks like a short-haired version of Meco's dog in the "mistery dog" thread!  Whatever he is, he's 100% cute!

I have been told that Rocky looks like he could be a Jack-Rat terrier. I've looked at some pictures online of this mix and he looks a lot like them. Does anyone know the temperment of this mix?
