Needing breed ID help

• Needing breed ID help David McPherson Posted : 8/30/2006 8:24:54 PM Hey, all.  I am needing to register the pound puppy I adopted a few months ago with the city.  They want breed info so I was hoping you all could give me some help.   She is 4 months old in these picks and 31 pounds.             Thanks for any help you can give. I assume some parts of the country have quite a few...they've gained a big following here in the states. There was an episode of Animal Precint where they had to rescue an abandoned Cane Corso...which is a really rare breed...super expensive....so people do strange things at times!   The longer back and deep body, along with round heavy bone, and high set short ears (likely normally cropped) really don't look anything like a Pit cross to me, they contribute to her looking quite "typey" and like a breed rather than a mix. There are no ill fitting parts or awkward conformational things.   She could be a paid for purebred that was lost or stolen....or someone read about the breed or was told they were aggressive or some drivel and panicked...didn't like the pup jumping on thier kids, etc. Could even be that they were told No Dogo's by the city or place they lived...it happens...sadly more and more often.   I could also be completely wrong...but my spidey sense tells me she is a Dogo...time will have to bear that out as far as temperament or how she turns out looking as an adult. • David McPherson Posted : 8/31/2006 7:13:58 AM Thank you all so much.  The first thing I thought when I saw her in the shelter was Dogo as well.  You are correct that it would be a rare find, but she was found in central Kansas and I know they are quite popular in Oklahoma, so it is not too much of a stretch that puppies could be available there.  I was looking into getting a Dogo puppy but the wife and I decided to adopt a shelter animal instead.  Needless to say I was exstatic when we came across Luna.   I also really want to thank Gina for her post.  Very discriptive and thought out.  0 LIKE Like Share You have posted to a forum that requires a moderator to approve posts before they are publicly available. • rwbeagles Posted : 8/31/2006 8:58:10 AM I've not seen an AB with anything less than a huge wide head with flews galore. Her head is nice and neat with tight lip, very disctict look and IMO very unlike that of an AB...it's not too big for her body. She's also not wide across the front and sort of bowlegged like most AB I've seen via photos or at shows. Even pet quality dogs have this wide between the ears head...so...   I'm sticking with Dogo, lol!
