Rotties are just the sweated loving large dogs I've meet. They are Large, and that may be a problem. Large dogs tent to have large problems, if he's sick most rotties will not hadel being sick very well. They need an owner who can handel a 100lb dog in any condition. Many rotties I've helped with who were sick did not get better, not because the vet didn't know what he was doing but because this breed tends to give up once they are down.
Now that is just one of your worries, this breed is not popular with many people who don't understand dogs very well. Some will just assume that because it's a rottie that it's agressive. You will have to be very carfule around other people, not because of your dog but because of people who don't like your dog just because if it's breed. There are some places that don't allow rotties for nothing other then the fact that it's a rottie.
Training, yep you'll need that. Just get him (or her) into training early. Just makes it easyer on the both of you.
I'm shure I could go on forever about this breed but do your own reasearch. Decide for yourself if thats the breed for you. Does it fit your lifestyle? Are you willing to care for it no matter what the outcome? Hypothyroidism rums high in this breed and most I know have to take a pill twice a day to controll that.(most rotties are pooly breed and have issues like that) Are you willing to give him the meds he needs? Talk to a breeder and ask as many questions you can before you take that dog into your life. Good luck in your search!
