    Golden Retrievers?

Does anyone have any experience with these dogs? Are they good with children?

I have a 4 month old puppy and so far, he's excellent with my boys.  But I think it's because he has my other dog, 7 month old Australian Shepherd Ruby, to "mouth" on.  These are a "mouthy" breed and it's extremely important for them to stay with their littermates as long as possible so that their bite inhibition is progressing well by the time they come home to you.   Other than that, I think they are very sturdy puppies and Samwise is really tolerant of the kids playing with his ears, tail, paws, etc.

i had two,a male and female..i had the male from a puppy, and he was always very good with kids...i didnt have my own kids until he was 5 years old,but responded excellently with them

as with any dog tho, proper training and socialization among other dogs and people while still young will help out alot.Use positive methods of training and contact a good trainer who uses these methods.

also common sence...altho my goldens were great with kids,i would never leave them alone with infants or younger children..

     i will always love GR's..

Goldens are AWESOME! I've had 2 before as well as a lab (which is pretty similar). Both my my goldens have been smart as whips. They're awesome to cuddle with as well and my Roxie is excellent with my 4 year old niece.

My mom owns a Golden. She was a birthday present for me but when I got married my mom refused to part with her [:)]

She is THE best, and took to our children right away. Nosed them out and now they climb all over her and she just rolls over and goes to sleep.

She good with my other sister (9 yr old) and my sister would bother her alot and she would growl and run away, and my sister got the clue and stopped. Regardless of what she did to Laika, Laika never snapped, she is very good.
