Odd Colored Aussie?

Jaden looks like a red merle to me.They are not that uncommon among aussies bred for herding work.Noel's litter had several red merles and my farrier's dog is a red merle.

looks like a red merle to me too. I fostered one for aussie rescue - quite the common color - and VERY beautiful in person.

and on a side note... I adopted two of my cats from that shelter 15 years ago!

And the red honestly LOOKS more golden -- and this is an australian shepherd not a cattle dog so again in certain parts of the country it's a much less common dog altogether.  The gal we train with has an aussie this color that she works with.  And I was thinking the last time I saw him "what the heck color is THAT?" just cos I'd really never seen one

 I've seen a few of those light red merles around this area. More what I would call light brown than red. The pups are very light but seem to darken with age. My friend has a red tri aussie and she is a deep red. Aussies colours and markings are quite varied, especially among the merles. The link above has some very interesting variations.

 That's a red merle. Red merles can come in all shades of red from cinnamon to dark red, nearly brown. Also, Sunshine was even lighter than that. She lived her life outside and was bleached yellowish - like a golden retriever. That is why I named her Sunshine. Once she shed that old coat, she was still a very light red merle, but not so yellow anymore.

yeah...looks just like a red merle to me, too...and also agreed about the exposure in the shot or more likely...the wrong white balance or color temp. for the lighting there was...flourescent lighting can be tricky!
