Welcome to the board! From a person who was never a small dog person, I was taken by surprise just how hard I've fallen for my Pap. My boys & I are starting an exercize program since we did nothing but sit on our fannys all winter long. Since I have a fenced in yard I take the boys for about one good 45minute -1 hour walk a day & then the rest is just playing in the backyard.
Congrats on your Pap to be. Warning, you can't have just one. []
So true, I was the same way. I would NOT have a toy dog and now I'm infatuated. They're really really neat little dogs.
And you can't just have one.
As for exercise, we live on a few acres, so we just let the boys run around in the back yard for a while (always with supervision of course) They also get several good fetch games in. They're amazing at retrieving, they pick things up so fast. A lot faster than our field bred lab did and my father swears they outdo all his hunting dogs he had growing up. The two boys also play with each other constantly. They're active dogs, but a short walk and indoor play time should be enough exercise. They love to play games and thrive off of human interaction. The more interaction the better.
I don't know anyone who has a pap that doesn't like them. You'll really be amazed if you get one. I can't think of another breed remotely like them.
