    Eddie

This is my grandma's dog, Eddie.  She adopted him from a Golden Retriever rescue a few years ago...I'm not entirely sure how old he is, maybe 5?  Anyway, they had him labeled as a Golden/Husky mix.  I can see where they got that from, but I'm not sure that's quite right.  His face is too wide and bulky for that.  He's got that almost puffy look to his snout like I'd expect in an Akita mix, though I don't think he's got that in him.  The eyes aren't right for that.  The face/markings/fur make me want to say Malamute, but I'd think the tail would curl more for that.  Maybe Chow?  Dunno.  And yes, I know he's really overweight...I just had a conversation with my grandma the other day about it and suggested changing his food (he's on Pro Plan right now which isn't awful, but I think a better food would help him) and she knows he needs more exercise.  She has a dog walker come by about 3 times a week, which is not enough but...sigh.  He has no energy...I took him for a bunch of walks and he slows down pretty fast.  Aaanyway, I thought this might be a fun one for you guys to chew on for a bit  [:)]

He is extremely friendly, hardly ever barks, and is extremely calm/laid back/relaxed (not sure if that's because of his excess weight or not).  He is shaved, though I know his hair was quite long like it is on his ears and the end of his tail.

    I love his ears :)

Could also be golden retriever chow. Since he has such long hair usually.

Could Golden/Chow produce those Husky/Malamute like markings?  He's got a light face mask, darker stripe on his back and the dot on his tail... Maybe he's Golden/Chow/Husky...

I definitely the Chow too! I'm not too familiar with Huskies so I won't guess on that but Golden/Chow wouldn't be a bad guess IMO....

He looks like a Malamute/Akita with Golden Retriever. He is ADORABLE, he reminds me of a yellow polar bear.

Definitely with all the folks who see chow.....And as for weight, I don't think that it is quality of food necessarily, but quantity versus exercise.  I am guessing that he and your grandmother pass along day to day at a nice liesurely pace that is pleasing for both of them, but the food would need to be limited accordingly, and from experience with elders in the household, I know that they equate showing love with treats and food.  It is really hard for them to cut back, because they feel that they are punishing or depriving a friend.  And of course, the dog has come to expect the treats.   Try cutting the actual dog food amount in half and filling the rest of the bowl with frozen vegetables (mixed ones) and just dump it in the bowl frozen for extra crunching satisfaction.  It will cut the calories, up the fiber and hopefully, your grandma can feel that she is still treating her dog well and not depriving him
