Mini Aussies

There's a new agility class starting tonight so when I go to my puppy obedience class, I'll ask the instructor about when to start with Ruby.  There are several sessions scheduled over spring and summer.  She'll be able to tell me if that's too soon or not.  We still have Fundamentals, Building on the Basics, and eventually CGC which my middle son would like to do for Cub Scouts (he'll be starting Fundamentals with me).  I'm also very interested in the idea of therapy work but she's so young right now; that's a long way off. Thanks for your help, Anne.  I never meant to offend anyone, least of all someone with as much knowledge of the breed as you.  Even though I grew up with Aussies and know a lot about them, I don't really consider myself an "Aussie person."  That's a club I'm not so sure I want to be a part of given the reception I've received so far. [;)]  Again, no offense intended to you specifically. I hope I can call upon you again if I have more questions?

Sure you can.  Some of the people on maculated.com are more knowledgeable than I am about the genetics, breeding, etc., but I'm happy to answer on the board or by PM.

I spoke to the agility trainer and she said that Ruby could start at any time, without the jumps, of course.  She said she started her pup, a Doberman, at four months and it was fine.  I'll have to pick a class that can work with our schedules (school, T-Ball, Soccer, Cub Scouts) but I'm gonna give it a go. I'll check out that website you referenced.  I'd like to know a little more about the genetics of this breed. I know that Aussies bond tightly with their owners but I'm surprised at how quickly and easily she's done this.  This pup seriously shadows me.  Everywhere I go, she's right by my feet, even sleeping on the kitchen floor right now while I'm on the computer.  She's normally so high energy but I've noticed that when I need to do something, say send an email or make a phone call, it's like she knows I need a moment and she acts accordingly.  I swear she can read my mind.  I had the stomach flu a few weeks ago and ended up in the emergency room and when I came home my hubby left with the boys to give me some peace and quiet and Ruby must've sensed something was wrong because she literally slept all day with me and didn't seem to want me out of her sight.  I'm amazed, each and every day how intuitive she is.  Is this normal for such a young age?  Sorry to ramble, I'm just so thankful to have her. ;PS - I'll start a new thread or PM you next time I have a question for you; that first picture is really creeping me out.
