Thoughts and prayers needed.

    Thoughts and prayers needed.

    For my husband.

For the past 2 days he was complaining of indigestion, something he has often. Shortly after I posted over in mindless chatter he woke up sweating, with pain in both his chest and arm. I made him put on his slippers and took him to the emergency room. He had all the classic signs of a heart attack. And that is exactly what it was

I took him to the emergency room just down the street, they saw him ASAP and within 30 min had him stabilized. They called and had an ambulance come and get him for emergency transport to the local heart hospital for cath surgery.

On the other hand it took me over an hour to get there, and it is a 15 min drive from the house. There was both an Iron man triathlon and a Taylor Swift concert at the fair this afternoon and evening.

I was not a happy camper. I was scared to death something would happen and I would not be there. Every road I tried was blocked or diverted.

By the time I got there they were DONE. He had 90% blockage in one area and 100% in another. He now has 2 stints and doing fine, was in fact begging for food by the time I left. The Dr. was very gracious, this is a complete on call team that came in for this. His prognosis is good but we have some lifestyle changes, he should, hopefully, come home on Wednesday.

The next few weeks are going to be hard. I am going to have to change the dogs routine as well. Thankfully I have bosses that are understanding and my hours can be flexible.

If you all could say a little something for him to get through the next few days I would appreciate it.

Oh, Truley!  Thank God you were home!!!!  I'm sorry you had to suffer through traffic and all that worry to get to him.

Our best strength and healing vibes for your DH, and strength for you, too!  We all tell eachother this, but *please* remember to take care of yourself as your helping to take care of your DH.  I'm so thankful they caught it and his prognosis is good!!  What a scary day for you, but good news to have such good care close enough that your DH was stable in 30 mins!

    Giant hugs!!!

omg how terrifying. That's one of my worst nightmares. (DH's father passed away from a heart attack.)

I'm definitely sending strength and healing vibes his way. And ((hugs)) for you!

Wow, Truely! So glad you were there to take him to the emergency room, and that they caught it quickly!

Thank you all. I really appreciate the kindness.

I am feeling....I don't know, weird. I got home, called all the family on both sides, let all the dogs out, made me something to eat and started the laundry that did not get done.

I called the neighbors mother, told her what happened and that I would let the dogs out tonight, feed and water them and let them out again tomorrow morning. Someone else will have to take care of them after that until he gets released. Idiot. Why you ask? Because he is the only one that Kord would probably allow in the house without doing harm and I could use the help, but I do not trust him in our house when no one is here.

My other neighbors are going to watch the house when I'm gone. And they are being very supportive.

I refuse any other scenario than he is going to get better. He really did not want to go and refused an ambulance to come, so I had to drive him. Looking back this has been a week long thing. He has been complaining of not feeling well all week. But we both put it down to indigestion, it was the arm pain, sweating and general appearance he had just after 3 today that scared me to the bone. He just turned 43 last week and this was the LAST thing we expected. There is no heart conditions on either side in his family, but he was born with CP and has a  half sister that also has a birth defect, so I guess we were wrong to not think of it.

The Dr. did state that his heart, despite everything today, is very healthy and showed no lasting damage. I am thankfully for small miracles.

    I will keep you posted.

fingers crossed for a safe, speedy and uneventful recovery! Heart problems are so scary...

take care of yourself too! (((hugs)))

Of course you have our bestest throughts and our prayers.

My DH had FIVE stents put in a few years ago.  His at least was a planned angio. But finding out he had five blockages...the least at 90% and the worst at 99% was a shock.  It's terrifying to realize how close he had come as I'm sure it is for you.

The changes, well, they aren't quick and easy, but you'll be surprised how quickly they become real lifestyle changes that seem very natural.

If you need to talk, well, you know where to find me, and if I can help with menu ideas, just let me know.

    ((((HUGS)))) to both of you.

Wow -- taking him to the closest clinic so THEY could call the ambulance was GOOD thinking.  It really sucks when we wake up and realize we're mortal.  My husband and I had to have a short "this is reality, Bucko" talk a while back where I essentially said "Look, if you dn't want ME nagging you, then take care of **yourself** because I really don't think 10 years together is enough and I'd rather not live without you".

And he has -- lifestyle changes are tough -- but sometimes it takes a rude awakening to get things going in the right direction.

Will definitely keep you in my thots and prayers, and yep -- here goes an email to work to remind me to put a sticky on my printer!!!!

    Dawn, I will be praying for a complete recovery for your DH.  I'm so glad you took him in quickly.  I have a close friend who went through a very similar situation and it actually turned into a positive in certain ways.  He quit smoking, started regular exercise and is even watching his diet.  I know you are both feeling incredibly lucky right now.  I send you both my strongest healing vibes and will be praying that all goes well.  {{{Hugs}}}

Omg how scary!  I hope he is well again very, very soon, and back home where he belongs.  Your actions made all the difference, I am sure....  I can't help thinking that if that were my DH, I'd have freaked out, panicked and flapped and been no help at all.  You are so brave!

Good thoughts going out to you and DH for a speedy recovery!
