We'll be bringing her home tomorrow; they want to keep her on IV fluids one more night as a precaution. My vet had sent blood yesterday for a Spec-cpL, which is a pancreatic enzyme test. The results were back today and it was very high, so she did have a severe flare up of her pancreatitis. She is feeling much better and doesn't appear to be in pain anymore. The blood work Purdue did today showed that her liver enzymes and amylase and lipase are improving. Based on that, they decided not to do the liver aspirate. The small mass on her rectum was simply a watery cyst. I will have my vet check her liver enzymes a few weeks from now to be sure her liver is okay, but they think the liver enzymes are elevated because of the pancreatitis flare up. I was in the process of changing her to a cooked diet formulated by Monica Segal when this happened. It was on the seventh day of the transition (yesterday) when she got sick. They are recommending not to change her diet, and to return to her old diet. Monica and I have been working on a diet for Jessie since November. She reacted to turkey, pork tenderloin, and beef (ear infections). Finally we tried eggs, and this happened. I'm going to follow their advice of course, but I'm very disappointed. But, we have to listen to our dogs and do what's best for them.
It's said so much on here but it's true; you guys are the greatest!!!!
