Thanks for asking, Lori. Last I heard, he's doing good. Hopefully within a few months he'll be able to get a pump that dispenses insulin rather than getting a shot. My sister will still have to test his blood, though. She is looking into an add-on sensor thingy for the pump that tests.
She looked into getting a diabetic alert dog for him but he is too young. The person with diabetes is expected to be the handler, and at two years old, he's just a bit too young for that. Also the ADA only legally protects those with hypoglycemic unaware or brittle diabetes. So just having diabetes does not qualify you to have a service dog.
And what are you doing up at 3:16 am?!
