ALOK's post from the Horse Forum earlier this evening:
I just got access to a laptop. As aDorkable said, hard heads run in our
family, which is good, since we've a tendency to lead with the head.
Chris is three years and one week younger than me, we've been attached
to each other since he was born.
Chris decided he was going for a ride, and his buddy told him he wanted
to go home, and Chris said he could go home, but he was going for a
ride, so Brandon went with him, and now we're really glad Brandon did,
because he would've wrecked with or without him, and it would've taken
a long time before we went out to look for him. Brandon was stopped at
a stop sign waiting for Chris, and Chris just didn't stop. He slowed
down a lot, but didn't quite make it stopped before the guard rail,
then he laid the bike down and slid under the rail.
That was a really bad night. I nearly hit a lady cop who couldn't keep
her mouth shut, a friend nearly went after an EMT for cursing at me,
and another had issues with the state patrol after I left (they
wouldn't let me ride with Chris, I'm not "close enough family";). The
lady cop threatened to arrest me and I told her she could _____ing try
it, and she backed off. Apparently the three of us have extremely bad
tempers when we're upset (admittedly, mine's not that stable in the
first place). Everyone else kept their cool and managed to keep us
under control. I'm going to write complaint letters about the cop and
the EMT, nobody should've been cursing or yelling at me, especially
when I was standing 12 feet behind the ambulance, completely out of the
way, not moving or saying a word.
As far as my ex, I'm not even dealing with that nonsense right now, but thanks for the thoughts there.
They just took the NG tube out, so he just has one IV giving him
Tylenol right now and that's the only tube in him. He drank some water
too, and kept that down (until they pulled the NG tube). This is such a
difference from last night, when they told us he'd be kept unconscious
for at least two weeks.
When I saw Chris this morning he said, "Hey Em." Which is close enough
to Emmy (what he's always called me) to keep me happy. One of his
friends asked if he wanted to go fishing, and he said yeah... when
asked which hole he wanted to go to he said "Anywhere but here." He's
speaking more clearly now, but he's still asleep most of the time.
Thanks again to all of you who are praying for us. I know we have all
these prayers to thank for Christopher's recovery this far, and his
continued recovery. Well, the prayers and his very hard head.
