My mom says he's nauseous from the medications (same as last time) but seems to be ok.  We shall see in the coming days if he's going to come home this weekend or if they'll send him for phys therapy first.

Zoe seems ok enough to eat, but she did spend most of the night upstairs hiding in the bathroom.  Neither Zoe nor Gracie wanted to go out this morning in the blizzard conditions that were whipping snow around my parents' house which is on a tiny jetty into the Atlantic Ocean. lol  Winds were drifting snow so terribly that 20 mins after the plow went through, I had a 2.5 foot wall of snow down the middle of the road to get through.  But made it to work!  I'm on my way back to my house to pick up Gracie and bring her back to my parents to spend another night w/Zoe.  This time I'm not sleeping on the loveseat w/my bed-hog Gracie.  NO ROOM!

My mom came home to spend the night in her own bed.  My step-sisters both took tomorrow off so they can be here to help when the hospital bed arrives and for when my dad potentially comes home from the hospital.  He's on new meds to keep his pain at a moderate level but to help w/the nausea.  So far, so good - yesterday he took 20 steps my mom estimates.  I don't know how she's going to get him up the front stairs even though the snow is cleared and there's hardly anything on the path to the door.  Glad my step-sisters will be there.

Sorry, it's been a hectic few weeks in my life, so I'm sorry I missed this.  Thank you for asking.

He's doing MUCH better than the first week.  Well, I take that back.  The first week he was doing well until he got gout in his foot about a week out from surgery.  (He's diabetic)  He looked awful when I saw him that Friday and had just started the medication for gout the day before and it hadn't quite kicked in yet.  Because of the pain, he wasn't able to put weight on his foot, thus walking to ease his back wasn't happening, so it was a nasty cycle.  By Sunday, though, WOW, what a difference!  He walked into the kitchen and stood leaning against the counter without even using the walker!  So, he felt good and that means good things for his healing.  He's a tough determined positive-minded bird like his mom was (RIP, Nana M.)  I'm glad he got those genes and attitude from her.  He's progressing toward PT... at some point, he'll be back to doing aqua-Zumba!  (Although my mother shakes her head and says that's months from now.. lol)  Things are looking good now.

Yeah....gout sucks!!!  I've never had it but worked with an older guy who use to get it at least once or twice a year!  The pain he went through was enough to make me NEVER want to experience it!

Good to hear things are improving!  Continued thoughts and vibes for him!
