I received an update this morning from my niece. Apparently the log jam is starting to break in the issueing of birth certificates w/o bribe money paid and it is beginning to look like there may be some real hope for Ana to get her new birth certificate soon.
What had happened, is that files were pulled for "errors" that didn't exist and had to go through a delay and "review" for a period of 30 business days. In the past week SIX b.c. have been issued to babies of J's agency, and they refuse to pay the "expediting fee" (bribe).
Ana's 30 days will be up on March 4th and hopefully her b. cert will be issued within a week of that date. J and B and the kids will travel to Guatamala for Spring Break (B is a public school teacher) so that they can actually parent their child, and it is hoped that her visa appointment will fall during, or very close to that time, so that B doesn't have to take too many unpaid leave days. The hope is that Ana will be able to come home with them at that time.
It is beginning to look like things may finally move forward and that Ana can finally come home. She is almost 10 months old. Her 7 year old brother and 5 year old sister are anxious for her to come home and to be part of their family.
The good news in all this is that J and B feel that their faith has grown incredibly during this trial.
If I could ask for just a little extra burst of prayer for this family?? Let's please put the power of idoggers to work and finally bring this child home where she belongs.
