My superintendent let me leave a bit early yesterday to visit Hannah at Children's. At this moment things look good and she has tolerated radiation treatments with no swelling (which could have been a problem with the optic nerve). She is in marvelous spirits and her family is pretty good too. She "knows" she has a serious disease etc, but she doesn't "believe" yet. She is getting discharged tomorrow and wants to spend the day Christmas shopping (well so would I at 19; now Im a bit more realistic). I passed on all your messages and she was truly appreciative and asked specifically that I give all of you her thanks.
Last night was kind of fun. A volunteer fundraising group called Hair Theater raises money for wigs for chemo patients. The founders of the program are long standing customers of her dad's. They made a surprise visit and we had a concert in the waiting area (and included any kid wanting to come along). These women were a hoot. You can search on the name if you would be interested in seeing more of what they do (essentially variety shows that are fund raisers).
Hannah has out patient chemo, labs etc every week. That is also when she gets radiation. Then she has a third week in which she is admitted gets four more drugs and no radiation. The admits start on January 3rd.
thanks again folks, and please keep the prayers flowing.
