Shanti is having surgery on Thursday

I am really worried as poor little Shanti is having surgery on Thursday.
She is having repair done to double hernias, one in each groin and also getting spay. Besides all of this, she has to have two teeth at the back pulled. Poor little fart.
Please send out some prayers for Shanti, this is going to be quite the ordeal for her.

    Hi Folks,
Shanti came through her operations with flying colours. I get to pick her up after 2 tomorrow.
I was quite a bit distraught when I called to see how she was because they had to remove not 2 but 8 teeth at the back, 2 on each side top and bottom. When she was in to see the old vet in Sept for her check-up, he told me that her teeth didn't look to bad. He said we would wait until this year to clean her teeth. I really can't see 8 teeth going bad in less then 1 year.
She eats Innova and gets tons of bully sticks so I don't know why her teeth were so bad. I guess I'm going to have to give raw bones from now on.
She must have been hurting so badly, God I feel like crap.
Anyway, she was up and about in the back room and she ate like a little piggy.
I'm not sure how she will be tomorrow, 3 operations plus 8 teeth out all in one day seems like alot. I will let you all know how she is once she is home.
Thanks for your caring words (((hugs)))

Lena, I just saw this - glad your girl came out ok.  Some dogs, like people, just have crap bacteria in their mouths.  It isn't always a hygiene problem:-))
But, I'm sure she'd enjoy the bones just the same. [;)]

    Thanks Anne.
I am not really sure where to start with the bones. I have tried to give them lamb shanks but 3 of the 4 have tiny mouths and can't get a handle on them.
Would you please let me know what type of bones to give them.

I'm just now seeing this too,  but I'm glad everything went OK for Shanti.  Lena, Anne is right - my dentist told me the same thing.  Some people can brush & floss 3 times a day and still get loads of plaque.  It just depends on the particular bacteria in their mouth. I bet by now your little one is feeling 100% better. [:)]

Anne and Joyce, Shanti seems happy even without the 8 teethies. I have fed her Innova made mushie with water.
She is such a good little girl and I cannot believe how spunky she is today. I am trying to keep her calm but being half JRT doesn't make it to easy. I had them use the laser for the incisions and I can't believe how wonderfull they look. Each incision is a little over 1 inch, so very tiny and they don't seem to be bothering her at all.
It was so funny after I took her in yesterday, Sweet Pea wouldn't even come near me when I came home without Shanti and last nite she didn't want to sleep with me  :-(  Today was a different story. As soon as she saw us get out of the car she went totally nutso. When we got in the house her whole body was just trembling. ( made me cry for a second). The love that they have for eachother is totally amazing. God I love doggies.
Thank you all for your kind words, you's are the best
