emma the rottie

So glad to hear she's recovering well - one caution though: it has been shown that pups that have a serious illness before 14 to 16 weeks of age are more prone to behavior problems (including owner directed aggression), so be sure you get her out and about and into a puppy class ASAP after she's recovered. Do ask your vet if you have to be concerned about her transmitting parvo to other pups though before signing up for a puppy class.

here's hoping her recovery continues to go smoothly! [:)]

Oh, it's nice to read this good news of Emma being home, in good spirits, and relishing the love and caring she's getting from you and your wife.  I logged on just now and the first news I saw was of Gina's puppy, Hero, so my heart needed some happy news.

Keep getting stronger, Emma!  You're a lucky girl!

    thanks again everyone.

we are planning to get emma into a training class as soon as possible. we have been in the "wait and see" mode for a little while, but the good news is she is starting to play now.

she is romping around after the other dogs. trying to playfully engage them. biting at the rug (i know not a good thing per se and we have been stopping her).

she is still really skinny and weak much of the time, but the playfulness is really encouraging. on the advice of brookcove, we started feeding her bil-jac because she wasnt wanting to eat any of the other foods we tried. that seemed to be the one! now she is eating like a champ.

if things keep going so well, we should have a healthy little girl in no time. [:D]

I know I'm way late in replying, but your last post cyclefiend made me so happy! I am so glad that little Emma is doing much better. I have a very soft spot for puppies - not just because they are puppies, but for some reason I do.
