Cerebral artery surgery - request for a friend

Well since the waiting and worrying is often the worst part, I'm guessing this wasn't good news, but I'll continue to keep you both in my thoughts and prayers.

Paige, keeping Alyssa and all of her friends and family in my thoughts and prayers.  Waiting is horrible but there's always a reason for it that we might not know about.  She sure sounds like she's upbeat, that is SO good to have a positive attitude going into surgery.  Lots of licks and nuzzles from Gracie & Trixie.

I keep checking back -- so I see it's been postponed.  Tell her many of us truly ARE praying for her and thinking of her!

Thanks everyone!  SOOO lucky to have you all!!  Yes, I agree, I think waiting another week must heap on more stress - the waiting, plus rearranging schedules again, etc.  I have forwarded her this link so she can read all your well-wishes.  Again, I thank you all for caring and sending good thoughts/prayers to her. I'd hug you all back if I could!

    hi guys- a little update.
I forwarded my friend the link and she asked that I thank you all for your posts, that she was very touched.  She tried to post but couldn't.

She agreed that the waiting can be stressful and rescheduling was a pain because of arrangements she'd made at work and w/her mother coming up.  But that is all settled now.  Unforunately, and this is truly bothering her, her surgery is on her daughter's 6th birthday. She says they'll celebrate before she goes into the hospital, because the hospital is 3 hours from home and better not to have her husband have to drive that twice.  But it's still upsetting to not be with her daughter on her birthday.
Anyway, thanks again all.  It's reassuring to have you guys!

I usually don't scroll down this for, so I just saw this.  I know how stressful any type of brain surgery is, so I will say a prayer for your friend.  I hope that everything goes well, with minimal stress to both you & your friend.

I just wanted to share with all of you the outcome of her surgery.  I didn't get the news until today, but it seems she was only in the hospital a short while and with goodnews:

    ALL IS WELL!!!

Hi Everyone!  I'M HOME!!!  The surgery went better than could be expected.  They didn't have to put in a stent or do angioplasty.  My artery has completely shut down but my body produced about a dozen small blood vessels to bypass the artery.  My doctors were completely amazed, as was I.  I should have been able to go home the same day or the next morning. Unfortunately I bled alot during surgery and became extremely anemic and they could not seem to get it under control.  So I ended up staying alittle longer than I wanted.  I begged them to send me home today.  They agreed as long as I agreed to give myself shots for the next few days to get my blood levels under control (OUCH).  I've never had to give myself a shot before.  I'm just so glad to be back home with my family.  Thank you to everyone who sent well wishes and prayed for me while I was in the hospital. I MADE IT! YAY!

So, I wanted to let you know how she was doing and to thank you again for all the prayers and good thoughts.

Yay, that's great news.  I'm so happy for your friend and I know you must be relieved that all went well and she's doing fine now.  [:D]

Wow - great news!  Isn't it amazing what the body can do to try to help heal itself or adjust to problems and obstacles?  Our neighbors' toddler had a surgery in January with complications that caused a major BP spike, swelling in the brain and a short coma.  When he awoke, he'd lost a good portion of speaking and mobility, but the doctors said a young brain would recover and regain what it had lost, which it has, remarkably.  What a blessing that your friend has an equally adaptive and resourceful "noggin," that figured out a way to create alternatives to the lost artery.  I'll bet her doctors found her case to be inspiring and educational, too.

Best wishes to her for a smooth and full recovery at home where she's comfortable and happy with her family!  Thanks for the update.
