Lori, the photo is beautiful -- you all look great.  Your dress is very, very pretty!  I forget if you've posted your Grandmother's age before, but she looks terrific in that picture.  You can tell she's got lots of fun and spunk in her!

Lori - that is a beautiful picture and you were a lovely bride.  Your grandmother looks wonderful in that picture too.  I hope she continues to be the social butterfly at the nursing home and I'm sure they're loving having her there.  I hope the news about the surgery is positive.

Thank you guys!!  Gram update--She's feeling good--her words--"like my old self".  But, what she doesn't understand is that it's because they gave her another 2 pints of blood before she left the hospital the other day.  So, for now she feels good but it's not a she's getting better good.  My mom told me she is getting up daily, getting dressed and they have her doing physical therapy.  So, that's it for now.  I didn't speak to them today at all.  I had to go back to work after being off for 10 days and I'm also pet sitting.  So, just couldn't get it together to speak with them.

Thank you all so much.  I've told my Grandmother I'm going to bring my lap top to where she is soon and show her all these posts about her.  She's mesmerized by the internet.  I've taught her how to play cards on it and she's very good.  She picks up moves I don't see.

PS--She was 79 the year I got married.  In fact her birthday was the week before on 10/1.

Wow, I can only hope to look as good as she does at that age [:)].  You be sure to tell her were all wishing her the best and hoping they can figure out what's going on so they can take care of it.

Hoping and praying that things go well for your Gram.  She is beautiful - I see where you get your good looks from!

Go back and get her the mini cakes - you can dole them out one to a visit!  After all she has been thru and is going thru she deserves it!  Plus you can have one with her! Yum.

    Lori, how's Gram doing?
    • Gold Top Dog
    Thanks for asking Annie!

She's coming home from the nursing home tomorrow.  She's not loosing blood like she was before so she's feeling much better and is stronger.  They had her moving and exercising there and she did well.

They spoke with an infectious disease doctor the other day too.  He said that the type of bacteria she has needs to be taken care of.  If not it will be fatal eventually.

Soooo, she doesn't have a choice but to plan the surgery.  They are going to speak with some different surgeons and make sure they have the right doctor.  They want whoever it is to be really comfortable with doing it and experienced with people like her with diabetes.

But, for now she's doing really well and excited to go home finally at least for awhile.

    THANKS!!

Welcome home to your Gram! It's really scary how powerful some bacteria are -- some strains can resist every antibiotic they throw at it.  I can't image how hard it is to beat one that's affecting large areas, especially in an older person.  What do they do in surgery?  Remove the tissue where the bacteria has settled?

I'm glad she'll be back at home (even though the other residents at the nursing home will miss her, I'll bet!).  Now she can watch the Patriots at home next weekend (boy, my blood pressure was not good yesterday!).

We'll keep sending good vibes from here as she awaits surgery!

Lori, that's GREAT news!  From what you are telling us about Gram, I think her spirit is going to carry her farther on.  Give her a hug from me.
