Willow having some adjustment issues

Would something mildly anti-anxiety, like Rescue Remedy, be helpful for her? Stuff like that really helps Emma along....

Congratulations on the new house! I hope that Willow continues to eat well, and adjusts easily.

I'm using the comfort zone spray on her bedding and that helps her a little bit.  Actually, it puts her to sleep.

I've tried RR in the past and it hasn't done much.  I've read that for some dogs it doesn't work.  I guess it depends on a lot of things.

She's really scared of the dishwasher when it's running.  It's a quiet one too!  We didn't have that luxury in our apartment.

But, I think this weekend having me home and mostly settled so that we can get back to some of our routine has helped her a lot.

I wonder what she's going to be like Monday though.

    Thanks!!!

We're hoping that things work out. I expect they will. Willow always has you in her corner.

    Lori,

Congrats on the home.  I just saw this thread so I hope I'm not too late.

My answer for you is this:  Exercise, exercise, exercise.  Physical, mental and social (as much as possible.)

When her body is tired and her mind is on "getting that treat out of the toy" she'll be less likely to worry about the new surroundings.  Routine is very important as well, like the other posters have said.  When she knows what time dinner is, what time her walks are, where her "place" is, and the new time schedule for everything else, she'll settle down.

She's got thousands of new smells, new sights and new sounds to get used to.  I'm sure she'll get back to being the Willow you know very soon.Smile

    Lori,

Try some positive reinforcement as we do at home.Big Smile

Thank you all!  She's settling down a bit this week.  She just had a long weekend with me.  And, we kept to a schedule and (I know this sounds nuts) showed her around and talked to her about her spots.  I also noticed she's started picking her favorite spots to lay in like she had at our other place.

I'm having a hard time keeping her inside too now that she knows where the outside door is.  We were on 2nd floor before.  She loves this weather!

    Thanks again!

That picture is GREAT!!!  That would probably work too!!

It sounds like Willow is going to do well in the new place. Maybe better with a yard to roam in. And you will do like I do, keeping a scooper and scraper outside to occasionally de-poopify the yard. I usually take a nearly full trash bag and top it off with crepe d'Dog.

Ron--I wish I had that to worry about. She won't even go in the yard right now.  Apparently, the queen has decided that it's not acceptable to potty in the yard.  Embarrassed

She ate on the deck this morning--34 degrees and sunny!  I was warned she wouldn't want to be in.

Still having lots of anxiety in the house and sticking to us like glue--not her at all normally.

If it's anywhere below 70 F outside, Shadow wants to eat outside. It could be 16 F and he wants to eat outside. He might come back in the house afterwards, but he wants to eat outside. I have a theory that's the way it is with nordic or heavy-coated dogs, such as even Willow is heavy-coated. I know you had her shaved in the summer but I'm sure it's grown back out in no time.

Oh, yes, it's all long and she looks like a lion.  I wish I had a camera on our hike today--frozen drool all on her mouth---so gross--but so funny!!

I think Willow knows she's pretty and is always trying to accessorize for the camera.
