Iknow you don't know me and this might be a little personal...

BUT... Maven has destroyed 2 pair of my favorite panties (clean) in less than 24 hours..... what do I do about that....

Keep them put away?  Honestly that's all I can suggest is to simply keep anything she might chew on.  That's the simplest way to keep the peace, and things from being in pieces.

Sounds like a dog that need supervision and management. Wink  They do grow out of chewing things adventually.   A fellow Swissy owner recently told a story of her Swissy throwing up 7 PAIRS of her panties that she ate from the dirty clothes basket.  She was lucky so be careful.

That was better than the one I thought of. I thought I was the only one to think of a cute reply.

I quit wearing panties, which solved that problem. Hard to chew what ain't there.

But I'm sure the op is a bit frustrated. And I'm blessed to have a dog that doesn't chew on my clothes or shoes and never has. I might be singing a different tune if I had that problem. But I would imagine that environmental management is best.

My dear departed cairn I use to have would grab my panties and socks as soon as I took them off to shower.  He either put them in his toy box or brought them under our bed.  He never chewed them though.

This is funny !! All of us have been there, Maven is a real cutey pi and looks like a very smart girl on top of it. While she is a puppy and most likely beyond you'll have to learn our Kennel Motto, " You have to be Smarter than The Dog"  my kids had it translated to Latin for us as a Family motto !! It is a big joke around our Breed Nationals , what did Bonita's dogs get this year ??? You would think after more than 25 years in this breed they could not put one over me, but they are wicked smart and I am a very, very busy G'ma with 5 small grandkids who live with us.

Back to Maven the Panty Thief,  You will have to remember that just because you laundered your unmentionables they still smell like you to her!  Anything you wear has a more intense scent. They can and will find them if they choose.  Keeping things put up is the obvious suggestion,  your bedroom door closed, and laundry baskets up are also important. Lot's of chewies especially for Maven are a great idea too, I have toy baskets all over my home and RV , some for the 2 leggers , others for the 4 leggers.  Maven looks ver young so you will want to keep in mind she is still teething, and everything will go into her mouth as she tries to find comfort for swollen gums. When all else fails , just keep a list, one day you will laugh I promise you !!

     1) Keep them away from her! I had a rabbit with a penchant for underwear for a while. I just had to remember to keep them out of her reach at all times.

    2) Try giving her an old item of clothing of yours as her very own.

Misty just turned 6 mos. and she still chews on everything!  We did catch her w/ hubby's sock, she chewed a nice little hole in them, and now, well we keep the clothes in the laundry room (door shut), nothing is ever left around on the floor, and she's not allowed in our bedrooms.  She can't be trusted!  Heck, I put her in her crate one day last week, when I ran out, she was in there a 1/2 tops, the PITA chewed a hole in my couch, from her crate!!!  My husband said the crate must have been too close, it was in the same spot it's been since we got it.  She's not teething anymore (at least in the front), she got her second teeth, I don't know what the deal was, but man was I MAD!  So naturally, we moved the crate.  Obviously, Maven shouldn't be left unattended.  If things are too quiet and she's not around, you should assume she's getting into something.  We don't take our eyes off Misty (much), so hopefully this stage will end soon.  Good Luck!

P.S.  Ron, glad your not wearing panties anymore, but you may still want to be careful....lol

I'm not sure about this, because they always say not to give them an old shoe, 'cause dogs can't distinguish between "old" and "new".  Although, we do have a blanky (old receiving blanket from when the girls were babies) that is hers.  We took it to the farm where we got her and rubbed her litter mates w/ it, etc.  Course, it's been washed a few times now, so.... but I think I would worry about giving her old clothes.

That'll teach ya.  haha, honestly the only way I've been able to get BF to put his socks in the laundry hamper, is to allow the dogs to chew them up if they are on the floor.  Onyx especially loves dirty socks.  She'll sneak all the way down the hallway(which she is not allowed down) if she spies a dirty sock at the end of it.

C'mon Ron, you still wear them, quit trying to bluff!  You just keep them hidden so well that Shadow wouldn't have a hope of finding them.Stick out tongue

Actually, the first reply I thought of had to do with a Beagle I once owned that accidentally got into the bathroom when someone left the door open (even when you know how to use management, there are occasional slip ups LOL).  The object she retrieved from the bathroom was a lot worse than panties...and one which you, as a man, would have no use for, whether you wear panties or not.Hmm

    Yeah... dogs are gross.

Rascal chews up my panties ALL THE TIME. Doesn't matter how hard I try, either I slip up or he gets creative. There's really nothing you can do about it except doggy-proof your pantie storage areas. If you're really desperate, one of those super-sealable cans like for diaper disposal might help.

I can't tell you how many times I've put on a pair of seemingly clean and pristine undies, only to realize that things are quite a bit breezier down there than they should be, thanks to my little Rascal who seems to prefer I wear crotchless undies! Indifferent I know how frustrating it is, but honestly, every time your dog chews up your undies it's your fault for not keeping there somewhere the dog couldn't reach them. Stick out tongue

LOL thanks for the replies. I think the panty thing is under control, now it's my husbands shoes.... She is very active. She has space restrictions in the house as I can't be in every room all of the time. The only time she is unsupervised is in the yard and she is very good there and Kale's got yard duty, much to his dismay...LOL

That image came through in technicolor an cinemascope. That must have been way more embarassing than anything.
