Not raising his leg?

The way dogs carry their tails isn't always an indication of what is going on.....as northern breeds carry their tail over their backs most of the time.

I had issues with Thor and Sheba going potty on road trips.  Big issues.  So it was a VERY big deal and quite exciting when Thor lifted his leg in a rest area......until the poop almost landed on DS's shoe!

Xerxes will rarely squat, preferring to hike his leg at every opportunity.  Even those long first thing in the morning pees...he'll start with one leg hiked and then switch legs while still peeing.  He's almost fallen over after losing a bit of his balance while hiking.

My foster girl would hike as well, and she was a much better hiker than the boy.  Sometimes she'd even put her "anchor" leg onto a tree and really get some height on her stream.

Our male lab mix dog never raised his leg either (he's 12), I guess because he was raised around a girl from about 4 months of age.  Our 8 yr. old female does lift her leg.  Go figure.  I was always happy that he didn't lift his leg, no sides of trees, sheds, fences to be targets.
