Should they all be saved?

seriously aggressive, dangerous dogs (which are pretty rare) that has already went through the gamut of behavorists/trainers/vets and still cannot find peace within itself

interesting that everyone is assuming that aggressive dogs are unhappy. Sure, most dog aggression is based in fear, but not always. The scariest dog I have ever met seems pretty happy and at peace. His aggressive acts towards both dogs and humans are very deliberate. I liken him to a sociopathic human. The fault here is that he was bred in the first place.

The dog may have seamed happy to...you, but that doesn't mean he actually was.

Don't talk to me about working harder to fix humans until you have spent a week in my shoes, trying to fix the crap that walks in my door.

My life is based around unbalanced dogs, so "walking in your shoes"...not so difficult. And the "crap" your trying to fix that walked into your door...was created by...HUMANS.

If anyone can think of realistic solutions to this problem, that could be implemented in the world that we live in now, I would love to hear them. I'm serious - this haunts me on a daily basis but we can only do what we can do at this time.

At some point I think we can agree...we have to start at some point holding the humans that create these problems...responcible. It makes me sad to see all the money spent and the land used up for...GOLF. That land and money could change a lot of things. Oh...I forgot, we're talking about the real world. Anyway, there are those of us who are working hard to change things.

Seems I remember a little about it. I just happen to live near WAY to many of them. What a waste of land.

But (cough) what do humans bemoan as being the worst thing imposed on them?

    Laws and taxes.

see a recent thread in NDR where everyone's complaining about being "raped" at tax time.....[;)]

    OT...
i was the one that said that. without getting too specific about my earnings. i pay approximately 20% of each pay check towards taxes. my wife pays more because she set her withholdings up to take more. at the end of the year, we still end up owing. so after getting 20% (or more) all year, the government says that isnt enough.

in the mean time, i see how our tax dollars are being spent. too much is going towards funding pay raises for politicians and funding the ever increasing bureacracy of the government in general. not enough (in some cases none) going towards funding for our overseas troops, finding alternative fuel and energy sources, etc.

so forgive me if i feel like i have been bent over and cornholed at tax time.

one of my co-workers turned a lovely sweet but untrained dog into an aggressive fear-biter over the course of a few months (dog ended up ;PTS)  by guess what, carefully following the advice handed out on a certain popular TV show. When I suggested that the person on this TV show might possible be responsible for the death of this dog, I was attacked vehemently....

WTH!? There's the problem right there, placing blame where blame doesn't belong. And why don't you just say CM? Was Cesar talking to her? Was he advising her on what she needed to do with her dog? NO AND NO. Does his show clearly state DO NOT ATTEMPT THESE TECHNIQUES WITHOUT SEEKING PROFESSIONAL HELP!!!? YES. If...again...humans are not smart enough to follow ALL his advise, perhaps they shouldn't own a dog in the first place. Cesar did nothing to cause this womans problems and your trying to somehoe place the blame on his is...bs. Perhaps some people shouldn't even own a tv. [sm=banghead002.gif]

And I don't know about people "attacking" you, but it's good to know there were people smart enough to tell you you were...wrong.

For the record, the "crap" that I refer to are the HUMANS, not the dogs. I am talking about dealing with the people that I deal with on a daily basis, who have put their dogs in such a position that they leave all of us screwed. Yes, the dogs is the victim in these instances and that is sad, but it is reality. Walk in a mile in my shoes with these people, then try to tell me I should work harder.

I do agree that what it comes down to is human responsibility. Stopping the idiocy that runs rampant through our species and trying to improve the conditions for the critters.

    Amen to both statements....

The person who screwed up the dog should have been held accountable for their actions.

I think we need "animal cruelty" to cover a wider spectrum of actions in the treatment of animals in the eyes of the law.... so that people who ruin dogs through (for example) overfeeding, poor breeding and poor training could be held accountable.... although how that would be enforced I have no idea.  In a perfect world eh.

I agree, but how can we expect it to be enforced with animals when you can overfeed your kids and ruin them and not be in trouble with the law? [:(]

Ok...now lets all try to remain calm...it isn't the end of the world...I swear.[;)] And I have to say I not only agree, but lets start with the smart thing some cities are all ready doing. Not only have laws (and not stupid ones like BSL's) but have animal police.

Any even one thing, one can do to change what's happening today with irresponsible pet owners, is one more thing than nothing.

We can now resume our regular programing.[:D]
