    What's Your Puppy's Schedule

I'm just curious as to what everyone's schedule is for their pups. Taco, my chihuahua pretty much sleeps all day, I swear he's a cat stuck in a dog's body, lol. Tyson, the Great Dane puppy, has a bit more strict schedule. My work days (I work 12 pm til 11 pm, but hubby is home all day). 6:30 - Out of crate to potty 7:30 - Training time 7:45 - Breakfast in the crate 8:30 - Back out to potty, play time 11:15 - Back in crate for nap/quiet time (hubby lets him out after a couple of hours for a potty break) 3:45 - Kid's home from school, out of crate 5:00 - Supper in the crate 5:45 - Out until bedtime 9:00/9:30ish - In crate until I get home 11:45 - Out of crate until I go to bed around 1 am On days I'm home (Fri, Sat, Sun) the only time he's crated is when we're in bed or have gone somewhere that he can't come with us.

Well, Jamison is not exactly a pup anymore but his schedule goes something like this:

7 am - wake up and go outside for a nice long pee.

7:15-8 am - Sit in picture window and watch the street.

    8 - 2 pm - snooze

2 - 3 pm - More sitting in the window and waiting for Mama to come home.

    3 - 4 - walk with Mama.

4 - 5 - hang out and watch Mama cook dinner.

    5 - 5:30 - dinner and maybe a RMB.

5:30 - 7 hang out - a few good rounds of fetch outside.

7/7:30 ish - bedtime and out for the night.

I do have a lazy hound though.

They go out when David gets up and before he leaves and when I get up and before I leave.  They go out when I get home (about 10 hours later) and before/after their breakfast & supper.

They go out before "events" like leaving the house or getting home (whether they "go with" or not).

I'm astonished -- man, we do NOT live our lives by a clock.  I can't even imagine thinking "Oh, it's ___ o'clock -- time for the dog to go out."

My pup is only 9 weeks right now but his schedule is pretty much like Callie's because we also work. I did take 2 weeks off to bond with him and get potty training under way.

Other than the schedule being like Callie's I do get up every 3 hours at night to let him go potty.

We are very active people and do things out of the blue so we dont live by the clock either!

Ari's let out for a potty run (leashed short walk) by 6am every morning, then it's breakfast time. We'll play with toys in the house (first me; then the SO will play with her while I get ready for work). She's crated from 7am or 7:30am until one of us gets home, usually between 4pm-5:30pm. Then it's IMMEDIATELY outside for a long romp, run, swim, stick throwing session until she's worn out. Then back inside until she cools off enough for dinner. Her last potty break is anywhere between 9pm-10pm.

The weekends are more lax. She's still usually out for her first potty break around 6am though.

Starting June 1st, I'll be working from home and plan on using the early morning hours for a 3 mile walk before I start working.

    The Cat's Diary
    Day 983 of My Captivity
My captors continue to taunt me with bizarre little dangling objects. They dine lavishly on fresh meat, while the other inmates and I are fed hash or some sort of dry nuggets. Although I make my contempt for the rations perfectly clear, I nevertheless must eat something in order to keep up my strength.
The only thing that keeps me going is my dream of escape. In an attempt to disgust them, I once again vomit on the carpet. Today I decapitated a mouse and dropped its headless body at their feet. I had hoped this would strike fear into their hearts, since it clearly demonstrates my capabilities. However, they merely made condescending comments about what a "good little hunter" I am. Bastards!

There was some sort of assembly of their accomplices tonight. I was placed in solitary confinement for the duration of the event. However, I could hear the noises and smell the food. I overheard that my confinement was due to the power of "allergies." I must learn what this means, and how to use it to my advantage.
Today I was almost successful in an attempt to assassinate one of my tormentors by weaving around his feet as he was walking. I must try this again tomorrow, but at the top of the stairs.
I am convinced that the other prisoners here are flunkies and snitches. The dog receives special privileges. He is regularly released, and seems to be more than willing to return. He is obviously retarded. The bird must be an informant. I observe him communicate with the guards regularly. I am certain that he reports my every move. My captors have arranged protective custody for him in an elevated cell, so he is safe. For now ...

    DougB, this is hilarious!!

In my house, it's the cats that rule -- the dog thinks for sure she is captive: she must be saying -- why can't I chase the kids on their skateboards as they drive by the yard -- they are sooo noisy and moving so fast!  why can't I go ballistic at every thing (real or imagined) while I'm in the house -- there has to be huge monster right outside the window -- I know that for sure! why can't I charge at the fence when someone is politely walking their dog -- it is soooo much fun to get a reaction out of them (never seems to work though); why can't I harass the cats when they are sleeping -- they should be moving anyway, 'cos they are sooo fat.  why can't I push the people off the couch -- I really thought I heard them say it was mine, didn't I?  why can't I run around the yard right after it rains --- is that mud? so what! it looks so cool (hey get that hose away from me!).  why can't I jump up on strangers?  they wanted to pet me, right?  oh -- I happen to be taller than them -- ok, I get that.  but mostly -- why can't I bite you!!!  hey, it's only a little mouthing -- I'll make sure I never draw blood -- will it be ok, then?  darn, I am soooooo tired of hearing that stupid word NO.

Cher is around 9 months old now, but she's the closest thing to a puppy that we have, so I'm using her weekday schedule.

4:45am:  Wake up, go out for a potty break, & then a run with mom.

5:30am:  Finished with the run.  Time for an hour nap while she cools off before breakfast.

6:30am:  Breakfast & back out for a potty break.

6:45am:  Load up & head to work with mom.

7:10am-11:55am:  Visit with office staff, head for the copy room to watch the copy machine "eat & poop" papers, play with toys in mom's office, & watch/growl her reflection in the windows.

12-1:00pm:  Depending on the day...obedience class, or a walk in the park.

1-5:45pm:  Lunch, a RMB for a good chew session, & then a nap on mom's couch.

5:45pm:  Load up, & head home.

6:20pm:  Arrive home.  Say hello to the family, & head outside for a run or swim with the other dogs.  Assist mom or dad with dinner if they are outside grilling.

7:30pm-9:00pm:  Time to go inside.  Escort mom, & stand guard while she showers.  Then family time.  Watch some tv.  Harass a kid or two.  Nap here & there.

9:00pm:  Time for dinner, followed by a potty trip, & a quick patrol around the yard to secure the perimeter with my big brother.

    9:15pm:  Bed time!!!

The girls have a fairly stable schedule. Yes, I live according to their needs.

6:45, get up and potty time.

7:00, back under the covers while mom showers and dresses.

7:30, breakfast and more potty time.

8:00, in the car on the way to work.

Potty breaks every 2 hours (yes, they are adults, and no, they can't hold it) with training sessions at various times throughout the day.

3 days a week, there's obedience class after work, and Sunday morning, there's rally class. Other 3 nights a week, we play. We might go to the beach, or walk in the park, or just play frisbee in the yard.

7:30 pm is dinner time, and 10:30 is usually bed time, with a beddy snack and potty break. Almost always, there is a 3 am potty break.

I'm sure when Tyson gets a bit older he won't be held to such a strict schedule, but he's not quite 10 weeks old right now, so the schedule is necessary to make sure he's set up for successful potty training and his bodily functions can be a little more predictable, lol.

We live like this^. But my dogs aren't puppies- they can hold it for 8+ hours without a problem (I do not like doing this but they held it for 12 hours a few times). Someday (years from now) when I do get a puppy it will be on a stricter schedule until it's older.
