Personally, The Canny Collar worked better than anything else when I needed help desparately. Every dog ...and every person.. is different.  I like that you CAN remove the strap and just use the collar when they are walking nicely, and put it back on when needed.  I don't want to depend on it all the time because there are times when they should be able to be handled just on a flat collar and it seems that that is the ultimate goal with this device.

BTW,Grace has improved markedly lately.  Someone on the board said maturity might have a lot to do with her behavior.  Maybe he was right.

some dogs can remove head-halters despite them being put on and used properly- I own such a dog. No, I do not know how she managed to take it off since she always waited until I wasn't looking. And yes we had lots of expert help in fitting and desensitizing the dog to the GL. Some dogs will never accept head-halters. I own such a dog. It is the tool in this particular situation- everything was done by the book and the tool failed.

I do not know if the cannie collar demo was done in accordance with the instructions since I don't have access to or any interest in reading them; it was not a very impressive demo.

I have two canny collars that I have used for training in the past. I think they are great when you are transitioning off the head halter and but aren't ready for the buckle collar in all situations.

You have the ability to use it with the nose loop, without the nose loop, or just as a buckle collar. That flexibility made it perfect for some of Luna's transition work and it's a great tool for Rosco who only occasionally needs more control than a collar provides (he's great until some idiot comes charging up with their dogright in his face.) Typically, however, I have him in a sensation harness so people don't think my pit bull is muzzled.

Overall, I prefer sensation harnesses to most other tools, but I like Cannys over GLs or other head halters. I like the Canny's distribution of pressure better and it's flexibility to use in several ways is a huge plus. Basically, it's another training tool to keep in the box.

If somebody wants to give it a test run, I'd be happy to mail one of mine out since I am not using them at the moment. I have sizes 3 and 4.

I might get flamed for this but I've tried prongs, halties, no pulls, and nothing really helped to discourage pulling. The only method that worked on Kane and a dozen others that I coached on walking ettiquitte is the "slip noose, under the chin and high on the head method", somewhat like a show lead. The issue I've encountered is that you have to constantly hold it up or it'll slip down so I bought a grooming lead so I'll just lock it down and it'll stay put.
