puppy runs off outside after people!

I know puppies tend to do this but this is making me very nervous:

My 6 month old Border Collie/Australian Shepherd knows the come command very well. However, if we are in a place playing fetch and someone walks within 100 feet she darts off at full speed. I say her name and come over and over, but it is like she doesn't hear me at all. She is a very happy dog when she gets to the person/s and does her happy greeting to them.

How in the world can I correct this problem? She doesn't listen at all, and I am worried that she could possibly do this at some point and something could happen to her like getting hit by a car!

You need to keep this pup on a leash until she learns that come means just that.. come!
Right now, the word does not apply to her when someone else is near. The dog knows that she can get away with running off.. and you can't catch her!
My suggestion would be to go to this place where you play, and keep a long leash on the pup. When somebody is coming near, tell her to come, and make sure she comes. The more often you say come without enforcing it, the more she knows that it's OK to run away.  It may be a good idea to get some really yummy treats (home-made liver treats work wonders!)  to help you.

I use this recipe for my home-made dog treats... my dog has dog-aggression issues and in the 3 years I've been working on her problems, this treat is the only thing that makes me more important than another dog.

I'm sure more people will be able to help you out, but I'm sure everyone will agree that your dog needs to stay on a leash until she will come to you on command, no matter the circumstances. Don't wait until something happens to your dog and you spend thousands of dollars to fix her up (or worse..) before you realize that not coming on command could be a matter of life and death for your beloved pup.

Good luck, I hope everything goes well [:)]
