Golden Retreiver Question

• Golden Retreiver Question dmdusa@msn.com Posted : 4/8/2008 9:47:53 PM Hi,  I have a 14 month Golden who has been socialized from day 1 with us.  She does all the usual sit, stay, leave her food untill she is told that she can eat it, will leave a treat that is placed at her feet (that is if i can stand the doggy drool) before telling her to take it.  The one thing at this stage that I cant sort out is getting her to "reliably" come back when we out out in the woods etc.  Anyone got any tricks / ideas that I can use? • GoldenAC Posted : 4/9/2008 9:21:33 AM dmdusa@msn.com Anyone got any tricks / ideas that I can use?   Ahh, the joys of walking a young Golden through the woods [;).  When the get the scent of a critter, they stop listening.  How is her recall when you are not in the woods?   You may need to take a step back and work on the recall in a less distracting place and move up from there to more distracting places.  You could also use a long line in the woods, although you will be spending a lot of time untangling it from the trees.
