    JRT Chewing electrical cords

All of a sudden, in the past week my JRT has chewed through my printer cable,  the ethernet cable to my daughter's computer and now I just discovered she's chewed halfway through the vacuum cleaner cord !!

Has anyone had this sort of problem ?? I'm scared to death she's going to get electricuted. I can't exactly unplug everything in the house. I'm wondering if there were something really nasty and bitter but not toxic I could rub on all the cords so she'd stop.

    Got any ideas ?

How old is  your dog?  (Second chewing stage?)  Sounds like she should be crated when you can't watch her.
At any rate, dogs usually hate the smell/taste of Vicks Vapo Rub.  If that isn't enough, you can sprinkle a little alum on it.

Feel warned.... Emma LOVES all the bitterants you can buy at any pet store.

I told you a second chewing stage was coming:) Hey, Anne, Phoebe is almost one. Sharon and I were talking about this the other day, LOL.

I am facing  the same problem with our JRT, Sweet Pea. What we have done with the computer cords is tape them to the back of the computer desk. She has, to many times to mention, chewed through the telephone cord. I would take Annes' advice and try the vicks.
I don't leave anything plugged in anymore because I don't want her to get the shocker of her life.

All our cords and computer cables are run up high and then hidden behind a piece of wood...yes, I have a big piece of plywood under my desk cut to fit and just slide under the desk and all the cords are BEHIND that.  I've used PVC pipe for lamp cords and I just flat don't leave a vacume accessable.  Hide the cords that HAVE to stay plugged in the best you can and put the other ones up out of her reach.

well what happened is....we have two computers , hooked up to the same router. My daughter's computer is in her room at the other end of the house so we have a 50 ft long ethernet cable running from the router to her computer in her room. It was running along the baseboards but at one point it has to cross over the hallway at the threshold. Usually there's a throw rug over it but I moved it to clean.  She's never chewed up anything until just this week.  That cord's been lying there the entire 6 mos I've had her and she's never bothered it.  The other night she chewed the printer cable while I was sitting right here.  Didn't notice it til I went to print something and couldn't figure out why the printer didn't work. Then the day before yesterday I was vacuuming and stopped to go to the bathroom. When I came back and went to put the vacuum up I noticed she'd chewed through that cord too only not completely.  So now I've unplugged anything and everything I"m not using and have tucked any other cords out of the way where she can't get to them.
What I don't get is... what is the fascination w/cords ?  That dog has a million toys to chew in this house... bones, ropes, rubber, you name it.
Well today I went outside.... and obviously she'd been busy in the yard. There were tons of little holes torn up everywhere and very neatly lined up on the patio were a bunch of dead grubs, beetles and mole crickets !!!  lol.. EWWWWWWWWWWW
Bad enough she's digging them up and eating them. But now she's bringing them up to show me ???  lol

Is that really safe ? I'd be afraid she'd try to lick it and I know camphor and eucalyptus can be toxic to pets.  I'm wondering what would happen if I sprayed them down w/the hottest hotsauce I could find.
Hey, you're from as my kids would say.. Canadia ...what do you think she'd do if she got a whiff of Minard's Linament... lol
