Not Feeling Well, or Calming Down?

Hi everyone.  Dweezil just turned 1 year old a few weeks ago, she's a Cocker Spaniel/Cairn or Norfolk Terrier mix ...  She's always been a hyper doggie.  She's been allowed to wander the house for increasing amounts of time, as she's housetrained, but we just recently taught her to leave the plants alone.  Last week, she was bitten by a spider (we think) and had an allergic reaction, and was somewhat down for a couple of days afterwards, from a steiroid shot, and also some benedryl.

She went back to normal, and then, yesterday, I realized she was being extremely calm ... lying down more than usual (napped while I napped, thank goodness!).  However, I don't think she's lethargic, because she still jumped up to steal pillows, and to follow me, and play if I wanna play tug; she still perked up at normal things and ran to the door when people came home, but didn't overreact and bark.  I asked my parents if she had been running around while I was at class (I was gone most of the day) and they said, not so much, but she was ungated for almost the entire day, so we think she is just a lot less restless because she's not confined to the bathroom anymore.

So, I was wondering if people experienced a "calming down" in their dog when the dog was finally allowed to wander around the house unsupervised.  I have been expecting her to calm down for awhile now, but since it came close after the spider bite, I wasn't sure if this could for sure be due to her having more freedom and therefore not being restless.

I'm still a new mommy, so I don't know when I should worry or take behavior as normal!

    The first questions are:
    Is she eating?
    Pooping?
    Drinking plenty of water?
Does she have all of her shots?

Rory has defintly settled for the winer. She too sleeps in more, dosnt spend as much time outside and just wants to cuddle. Plus its typical for them to just have off days. You know soemtimes just like we do we get into a funk or are a little under the weather. The benedryl through Rory off for a while when her vet gave it to her too, especially if their not used to taking it, how long ago was that?
I can tell Rory really isnt feeling good, i can see it in her droopy eyes, laid back ears and red eyes.
Hopefully all is well, keep us posted!

    Hi sheprano!
Yes she's eating normally, still LOVES her food.  Pooping normally.  Drinking the same amount of water.  Is up to date with all her shots.  Maybe it's the winter thing, this is our first full winter with her, so maybe I'm just not used to the change.  The Benedryl ... the last time I gave it to her was ... Friday.  So I don't *think* it's the Benedryl.

It has gotten much colder in our area, so that may be it.  She doesn't seem depressed, or anything, so maybe it's just the weather, the benedryl, or ... a funk!  Talking that through made me feel better since I realize it may just be a mood, and not really health related, since EVERYTHING else is normal, haha.

My only concern really is that her skin around her mouth is still funky from the swelling from the bites... but I mean, human skin gets weird after swelling, as well.

Thanks for the reply, will keep you all posted!!!

p.s. sorry if any of this was incoherant ... rushing because I'm LEAVING WORK!!!  Happy Thanksgiving!

Hi there, just wanted to let you know that our 2 1/5 yr. old Jack Russell has just recently experienced a slight slowing down herself.  Before this she was your typical bumping off the walls JR but now she is a little less like that and yes, she now has full reign of the (dog proofed) house and is really very content about it all.  Good luck with your pup!  She's a cutie.
