Barking.

i apologize for posting something similar to posts i've seen but i have two dogs; one rat terrier and one chihuahua ..and they bark at practally everything. i guess it's somewhat good in a way because they do only at home, so in a way, i can understand.
never once can i remember them barking on a walk or on a trip to petco or something, they're always very friendly with other people.
but when my friends are over or someone new, they go insane and as the person walks into the door i'm almost scared my chihuahua may bite, but then he quickly hides. maybe there's nothing i can do, but if there is that'd be great.

[p.s. i've tried giving my friends treats to give to the dogs when they walk in and that did seem to help and after awhile they get used to them.]

My Chihuahua is the same way, especially with men. In fact, I think she was abused before we got her, because she absolutely hated men and if you moved quickly near her she cowered and pee'd everywhere. She's getting a lot better, but she still barks everytime a stranger comes to the door, then runs away and hides in the bedroom.

Keep doing what you were doing. It was working. It's not a problem that is solved in a week, or two weeks. You really can't put a time limit on it, you have to read the dogs. Keep at it, you were doing it the right way.
