    New Duke Update

Well, I haven't been on here much lately.  Mainly because I have been focusing all of my attention on Duke.  For those of you that don't know what has happened you can read this link: [linkhttp://forum.dog.com/asp/tm.asp?m=151846]http://forum.dog.com/asp/tm.asp?m=151846[/link]

After spending the last month really studying Duke I have come to the conclusion that all of his aggression is coming from fear & dominance.  I don't believe that it is Sudden Rage Syndrome & I do not believe that it is from his vaccinations.  The attacks seemed to be coming out of no where, we couldn't figure out what we had done to trigger them.  Things were getting better once he was on the meds but I believe it was because we had him on a remedy that just made him sleepy.  After awhile being on the meds or not... the attacks started up again.  Before he would only attack Dh & I, NEVER anyone else.  But now he has attacked my father as well.  It seems to stem mostly out of fear.  Anyways, I have two different behaviorists that I have found around here that are looking at my case.  I have asked each of them to come to my house and both write up a description of how they would like to handle the situation.  We will go from there.  I don't want ANY force training at all!  So hopefully one of them will be able to offer us an appropriate plan.
I am feeling better about Duke.  Things are not better but I feel more at peace with him.  I have hope right now as I know that with a lot of hard work this is going to get better.

Well, I hope you are all doing really good!  Thanks for all of the support that I have gotten here!

Me, too.  And, I really want to pat you on the back for going the extra mile to see if you can do it.

Glad to hear you're feeling better about the situation and between the 2 behaviorists, hopefully one can give you some good information/advice.  Let us know how things go.

Good luck with the behaviorists.  I can relate to feeling bad about things then good about things.  And, I know how hard putting the work into a dog like that can be so I also think it's great.  Duke is one lucky little furry kid.

Hey Caprice,  It was good hearing from you again. I've been thinking of you and Duke and was wondering how he was doing. Sorry to hear he is still having aggression issues, especially with your Dad. You are doing everything you can to help Duke and I think you should be commended for that. Keep me posted and I'll keep you guys in my thoughts and prayers.
