    What is with the smelling???

Usually Marley will smell at the beginning of a walk, do his business, and then we walk. Lately, he seems to be on a mission to smell EVERYTHING!!! Is it the time of year??? I don't get it. He especially does it if we take him to a new place. The annoying thing is that he will not listen to one command while he's doing this sniffing. Anything I can do?

    Thanks,
    Justine[:)]

Tobes has been doing the same thing recently too. He must smell everything and anything during our walks. Toby is 10 months old, so I'm not sure if its just a puppy faze.

A few months ago, Toby started eating everything during our walks. I spend more time taking stuff out of his mouth rather than walking. But he's not doing that so much now...

So maybe its just a faze.... [:D]

I thought it was normal, JJ does that too but she always do.....
During our walks, she sniffs and sniffs......... and then find the lucky spot......
Many times she ate junk, I had to get it out of her mouth......[:'(]
    O well........[:-]

Dogs explore the world with their noses.  Humans have to SEE it to believe it, dogs have to SMELL it to believe it.  Wondering why a dog needs to smell everything during a walk is like wondering why a human needs to see everything during a walk.  Use a blindfold next time you take your dog out and then you can get a sense of how it would feel if your dog couldn't smell.

Yes! I understand that Trevell, BUT I'm talking about the fact that this is ABNORMALLY more than usual, and the fact that when I say "Let's Go" he now ignores my command! I'm wondering if he's "Twitterpatted." JEEZ!

Lana will have her days where it seems like we have to sniff everything.  I don't mind it as long as when I say, "let's go", we go.  She's tricky though.  When I say lets go, she'll stop sniffing BUT we can't continue our walk because she now has to pee on the spot she was sniffing.

Your dog looks like a Lab, pure, as a matter of fact. He is a hunting dog. As such, he was bred to have a magnificent sniffer. Training would refine that, if you wanted it. Nonetheless, you can train him to more obedience on a walk but it takes patience. But there's nothing wrong with him, he's just scent-tracking, like a good Lab.
