What size leash do you use?

I use both 4' and 6', but I prefer the 6'.  I think it is better for training.  As for having too much slack, I can hold it in the middle if I need it shorter.  I really like the Lupine brand because they have padded handles, come in cute desings and are GUARANTEED FOR LIFE!  Thats the best part.  If your dog chews it, you take it back to the store you bought it at and they replace it.  It doesn't put the store out any either because they send it back to Lupine and Lupine sends them a replacement.  I bought these when Colton decided leashes were nice chew toys, and he has not chewed one of the Lupines yet.

I don't like leather or nylon straps, I find both hard to hold especially in the rain. I like to buy super-soft 10 to 12 foot padded or braided leashes and tie strategic knots in them so you can easily shorten or lengthen the leash as needed. You can always choke up on a long leash, but you can't lengthen a short leash.

I usually have Indy on a 6' and Mal on a 4'- 6' just gives him too much play, and that 2' gap between the leash lengths means Indy can get out of the klutzy puppy's way.

Leather is DEFINATELY the way to go though- SO much easier on your hands!

I don't like the padded handles, though- they don't fit in my pockets as well when folded up.

I have a 6 ft 1" wide nylon. That extra width, compared to the normal 1/2" or 3/4" wide, is sooooo much easier on my hands. This leash also has a built in traffic handle, that makes it about 2 ft.
