Transition dog off our bed and onto his

Ever since we moved our bedroom downstairs and moved our dog out of his room for the evening he has been sleeping with us in our bed.  I know, we probably shouldn't have started it but it worked out very well at the time.  We would like to move him off our bed now and onto his own bed in our room.  We are going to move his bed from the living room which he uses and seems to enjoy into the bedroom.  Any suggestions as to how to begin this process?  The few times we tried this in the past he doesn't take well to it--scrambling under the bed and barking, pulling clothes down, etc--basically letting us know he is not happy.  Any advice would be most welcome.

We just recently had to do this transition with our dog.  Our dog was becoming aggressive with us so we had to stick through it, and let me tell you it is not easy!

The first week is going to be tough.  What we did was just kept telling him "off" everytime he jumped up on the bed.  The first night we had to tell him "off" every 10 min's... didn't get much sleep.  Slowly though he figured it out and quit trying.  I didn't make him sleep on his bed... eventually he got tired of just lying on the floor beside us and got comfy on his bed.  We have been doing this for almost a month (I think) and every night he does still try to come up on the bed, but when we say "off" he jumps down and goes to his bed.

    Good Luck!

Did you do a lot of positive reenforcement--i.e. bribe him with treats everytime he laid still on the floor/his bed?  Did he act out or just jump back onto the bed?  Thnks

We didn't give treats but that is because our dog isn't very treat motivated.  We gave lots and lots of praises when he jumped off the bed. He growled the first few times that we asked him to get off, but now he just gives us a grumpy look and hops off.  The first few times he would just jump back up, but we were persistent and just kept asking him to get off.  We never physically removed him as we were having aggression problems with him and he would have bitten us.
